Travel Document Validity
«

Hi,
Does anybody know the validity (issue date to travel within date) of Travel Document?
My Daughter's PR card expired while she is outside Canada. She wants to comeback in March 2012 after finishing 8th grade. Wanted to make sure that I time the application accordingly.
In one of the post I read 180 days, but is that a standard?
Thanks

And also,
if the Travel Documents are rejected on H&C grounds, I think can apply for her PR as a dependent.
Does anybody know how long this process can take?
Me & wife are in Canada for past 7 years.
Thanks,

from what i understand your daughter is outside of canada and she wants to come back next year , its going to depend how long was she outside of canada ? The residency document could expire but she met her residency obligation that would automatically get her a travel document since all thats happened is that her document isn't valid for her to enter. Shes just a child so it wont get denied on humanitarian grounds because it is out of her hands to return at her will, she would have to go to the canadian embassy where shes currently living and get a travel document which is good for six months from the date its issued.

manu_pena,
My daughter has been outside Canada since July 2007. I planned for her to be back this aug/sept but she really wants to finish her 8th grade in India before she comes here. She will be 14 in next april so she is still minor, however her stay away from Canada has been long.
I am even prepared for rejection of TD, but want to know what to do next. My guess is once the TD is rejected, she looses her PR status and then I can sponsor her as my child. Don't know how long this process would take. Want her to start her 9th grade here in Canada.
Thanks for the reply. And please share if anyone has any more ideas.
