You need a transit/visit visa while entering the US. You have to apply well in advance, because getting appointment in US embassy is time consuming. Apply with all proofs such as Airticket, PR visa photocopy etc. U will get the visa, no problem.

Yes, you need it. I had applied for me and my family. We travelled from West Inidies via New York to India. We didn't change airport, still we got to get the visa. It is very difficult to get US transit/ visit visa, there are many rejections. In your case U will get it easily since U r canadian PR visa holder. Otherwise, if you are running out of time, look for other options such as changing the route via London(only stopping in London, the same plane will take off for Canada. If you are changing the plane on same airport, you again need UK transit visa) or Dubai.

I remember, as mentioned by Qorax, your point of entry (POE) can be any airport in Canada, irrespective of your settelement city you have mentioned in application form.( please confirm this)

You require transit visa, PR's of Canada do not require DATV of UK if they are travelling via London.

Explorer101

PR's of Canada do no need transit Visa for UK, however he is not a canadian PR yet as he does not have a PR Card (this is what the airline will want to see).  What he has is a visa to obtain PR in Canada, so he needs a transit visa through the UK, check the UKBA website.

Peace!!!

Hi

That is news to me.  A friend of mine was told by BA staff that he needed a transit visa to go through UK, I think it also depends on nationality.

Thanks for the heads up!!!

ANigerian is right, it depends upon your country of citizenship.

HoneyBee16, if you are travelling from INDIA to CANADA via USA- You need transit or visit visa

If you are travelling to Canada via London you need

DATV(visa)- changing plane on same air port

Visiter in Transit- change in airport (Htrw to Gtw or vice versa)

Both the visas are valid for 6 months with multiple entries. You can stay in UK for max of 24 hours.

If you apply from Mumbai VFS (visa facilitating center), you can get UK transit visa in 2 days (if interview is waved).

My flight route is

Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Int'l (AUH)

to

Frankfurt, Frankfurt Int'l (FRA) Terminal 1

&

Frankfurt, Frankfurt Int'l (FRA) Terminal 1

to

Calgary (YYC)

i need to wait in Frankfurt, Frankfurt Int'l (FRA) Terminal 1, for 7 hours for changing plane to Calgary.

My query is do i need any Transit visa.

I dont have international travel experience to Europe, hence would like to get seniors advise.

Dear all ,

With reference to my prvious post

Today i checked with Germany embassy in abudhabi-UAE and they told me that since i dont have PR card, i need to take transit visa for the change over flight in Frankfurt.

below email reply from
**********************************************
if you do not have your permanent resident CARD, you will need the airport transit for Germany, even if you are staying in the transit area. The stamp in the passport is not enough to be exempted from the necessity to obtain an airport transit!
**********************************************

Seniors pls share your travel experience through frankfurt airport.

APPRECIATE YOUR ADVISE.

Regards

Sunny

London dont ask for transit visa from Indian Nationals, if you have valid Canadian immigration visa, CoPR, ( No PR CARD is necessary) . I travelled last month and no questions asked.
