Touring/working in Canada and the US

Hello all

Ive been looking around the Forum for a day or so but I can not find any help?

I am hoping to go on a cycle tour around Canada and the US. I am thinking of going from coast to coast of Canada and down onto the west coast of the US seeing friends on the way but I do not think 90days will be long enough in each so have been hoping to do some work along the way. But all the Visas info I have read seams to say that I am to old? I am 32 and English I was a Chef for 10 years and have been working in the cycle industry for 5 years so was hoping there was something I could do on my tour. But I am lost in trying to find the right Visa for Canada and for the US.

So my question is what Visa do I need for Canada and then which one do I need for the US??

If you're a British citizen then you don't need a visa to enter Canada and the US but if you intend to work in Canada you should have a valid work permit.

Thank you but the thing I am having a problem with is what work visas to go for as they all say I need to be under 30 years old? I was thinking that if I could stay for 6 months or so if needed that would be grate.

Most visitors are admitted to Canada for 6 months, but you will not be able to work.  You are too old for a Bunac work visa.  Your admission to the US would probably be for 90 days, again you wouldn't be able to work.

You can stay in Canada for six months (if no end date was written on your passport stamp at POE) as a visitor. You can not legally work in Canada if you don't have a work permit. If you intend to work then you need to find an employer, employer applies for LMO (if job type is not LMO exempt) then you apply for a work permit once in possession of the LMO. You can do your application for work permit at the border if you don't need medicals in your job type. Just don't know if six months would be enough to do the job search and LMO application.
