applying by own than you save atleast USD 2000 of consultancy (depend on lawyer some charge less and some lawyer charges more).

cost is depend on how many people you are migrating (you + dependent/s) becasue visa fees and landing fees have to pay for you and dependent.
another cost of courrier's , your IELTS or french exam fees, medical examinations fees for each applicant, PCC's, photocopies, notary services, if interview is there than travel expenses, yes dont forget that you need POF(proof of funds) and that you need to show depend on how many applicants you are.

Your processing fee is $550 and your right of PR fee is $490 so $1040 total.  If you have a spouse, another 1040 there.  Additional 150 for each child.  The cost of medicals varies between countries.  In some countries, they may be completely covered by healthcare and in some countries you are paying, I think I have heard in the US up to $400 or something like that.

If you are from an English or French speaking country, you are in luck because you will not have any translation costs.  If you are not so lucky, you will have to get all your work experience letters, degrees and documents translated by a certified translator.  If you are in that boat, call a certified translator in your country to ask for their price list.  I can not remember any more how much I paid for those services.  In some countries, employers and universities do not have a problem with giving you letters in English if you ask.

If you need certified copies, you will have to pay for those services as well.  If you need police certificates from many countries, some of them may cost you something or you may have to have fingerprints taken and that may cost you.

Passport photos will cost you as well as the postage to mail or courier your application.  I never added all of my costs up so I have no idea and I can not remember any more how much they were.
