hi jobseeker..how ru doing?just want to tell u that my friend's work permit has been approved.thx for the info that u gave us..she is the one who came here as tourist and applied for a wp at buffalo..permit granted so fast..she sent it on jan and received it yesterday!what a a luck!!!so for those of u who r applying to work here dont loose hope! pray ..pray ..n pray!!thx..n gudluck to all!!

Did you mean that your friend entered Canada on a visit visa then went to Buffalo and applied OWP from there? Is it not possible to do it from inside canada? thanks. |

The friend did it from inside Canada. Sent app to Buffalo. Did you mean that your friend entered Canada on a visit visa then went to Buffalo and applied OWP from there? Is it not possible to do it from inside canada? thanks.

Hi Job_seeker For example, the holder of the visitor visa is in Calgary, where can she send her application for WP? Does she have to go there personally and apply or can she send it too like the friend of Ellejnoc did? |

hi,will this apply for live-in caregiver as well??? for example a person from the phil. came here as a visitor then she can apply as a live-in caregiver to the condition that her application must send outside canada?? please send me more info to those who experience this kind of arrangement..

Yes. Yes. Visitors in Canada may find it difficult to obtain a US visa; likewise a visitor in the US may find it difficult to obtain a visit visa to Canada. Initial work applications have to be sent to consulates/visa offices outside Canada; in your case to the Philippines or the country where you are working now. You're currently in the ME aren't you? That is the next problem. How to secure B1/B2 US visa.
Jobseeker, is it possible for a visit visa holder who is in Canada to send WP application to his home country, in my case the Philiippines?

Yes I am in the middle east Jobseeker. Actually I am asking for my spouse's case. I will be landing in Canada probably by May on a workingn permit, with my spouse on visit visa,and my son on student permit. My NOC class is A. Learned from you and from the guideline that my hubby is eligible for an open work permit. And from the many advises of forum mates, I was advised to apply the work permit of my spouse at the port of entry. Some said I can also do it from inside Canada by filing " Extend stay or change condition" form. Our TRV applications are under process right now. Actually I have already done my medicals. In my hubby's application, we mentioned that He is planning to stay for only 45 days. We are left with no option but to do this beause the guideline says that we have to establish ties and proofs that we are not overstaying in Canada. But deep in our hearts we want the whole family to be staying together in Canada for the whole duration of my WP validity. To obtain a work permit for my hubby will bail us out from this problem. We do not intend to violate any of the CIC rules. Probably in my hubby's application, if we will not mention that He is leaving Canada after 45 days, chances are we might get rejections. What really are the chances of my husband getting the work permit at th POE? I ran the WP eligibility test in the CIC webiste, and it seems that without the job offer and the LMO it is not possible to get one. Can my husband still apply for an OWP permit at the POE despite the declaration in his visit visa(multiple) application that He intends to stay in Canada for only 45 days? I am afraid the officer might not allow us to enter Canada if my husband would apply for OWP at the poe because in our application he said he will stay only 45 days. If my husband will also not mention on his visit visa application that He intends to stay only for 45 days our application might be rejected too. So confused...please guide... |

If he's granted a TRV then I don't see any reason why he won't be given an OWP at the POE upon your arrival. Yes I am in the middle east Jobseeker. Actually I am asking for my spouse's case.
