There are a lot of good examples around this forum, just search through the posts.

We wrote an account each of how we met and how our relationship progressed, included letters of support from family & friends, wrote a relationship timeline, included photos and individual sections with proof of our engagement, wedding, honeymoon and relationship in general... maybe I'm missing some things out, but this was generally what we had.  Of course, some of this was filed under "supporting documents" but we referred to some of them in our sections in IMM 5540 and 5490.

Tips:
  • Write a timeline of important relationship events, so the IO can clearly piece together where certain photos or events happened
  • Both write an account of your relationship and how you feel about one another, annotate with photos if you think it fits
  • Write important dates & events, like when you met, when you met each others friends & families, any challenges you faced in your relationship or whatever... etc etc..

I do wish you both luck.  My wife and I will be submitting our application around that time too.

I'm the Canadian husband; she's the Chinese wife.

Cheers

In addition to what ekristensen posted...

We also submitted:

joint bank account statements
joint names on utility bills
copies of life insurance beneficiary, which named one or the other as beneficiary
copies of RSVP and 401K beneficiary, which named one or the other as beneficiary
receipt for our wedding rings and sizing cost
receipts from couple spas/retreats
logs from Internet games we played, as well as emails, and Windows Live messenger conversations
Our myspace account comments prior to marrying, and also congratulating us after we married with wedding photos comments from friends and family
Wedding cards
Pre-approval letter to purchase a home in Canada

I included the exact 'proof ' for the sponsorship side (his) as to what was on the principle applicant side (mine).

It was a thick package indeed...once this is all over... I plan to start tearing our copies of files apart for a a scrap book :)

Best of Luck and Good Wishes!!!
