Hello everyone!

How long are routine background checks supposed to take?  I filled out that web-based form for general enquiries and got this response today from the High Commission:

Please be advised that we are awaiting the results of routine background checks.  We will write when we are in a position to do so.

For the past 4 and a half months (ever since my husband's interview), each time I send in an enquiry I get this response back.  What's the hold up?

If I order the CAIPS notes will they be of help for me?  Will they give me any insight as to what they are looking into and how much longer they're going to take?  As well, will ordering the CAIPS notes cause any delays in the application process, because I definately don't want any delays.  I just want this process to finish and I really want it to finish soon . . . like this month :(.

Ordering CAIPS will not delay the process. It will give u an idea if there is a decision rendered on your case.

Right now if they are doing the background check it is out of their hands. CSIS is the ones who handle the background check.  Sometimes they take 1 months sometimes much longer depending on the applicants history. Travelling, living in other countries, associations, military etc delay the process more.
