No, if you are processed in Canada as a refugee, you need your PR card to get the permanent SIN as you are not issued an IMM 5292.  The PR card will take about 36 business days.

Well, Waiting for the letter. Just got the first one which instructed me to wait for vancouver office. Did you get the second one or they just called you?? and arranged the interview??

But there were circumstances like my friend who have got his SIN just by his landing papers. So just wanted to make sure otherwise according to their website I need my PR card.

I was landed in Etobicoke and they issued me a permanent SIN so I think it depends on the office. At my landing there was an agent from service canada who was present and issued the # right away. I applied as a protected person

Yes my ecas changed to decission made since 6th of october and I got my landing letter yesterday set me to appear for interview on monday october 31st.. Any way I believe yours is just on the way and yo will be landed soon too.. good luck

Hi everybody

I got a complicate situation. when I applied as a refugie in canada, on PIF form I spelled my lastname wronge by mistake(real last name is A B and I wrote AB). On my decision paper shows like this: AB(known as A B).when I asked for travel document, passport canada asked me to gave them 2 ID with AB lastname. I told them I dont have any ID with last name AB becuase my real last name is A B and all my documents are A B. he asked me go to service canada and with decision paper you can ask for new health and driving licence with last name AB becuase we know you as a AB, but in my original paper from immigration, my lastname shows A B.
my question is :
in my travel document my last name is AB
in my original passport is A B
in CiC my last name is A B.
and I traveled to US with travel document. In this situation what should I do? can I change my last name to AB in PR? or I should do something else? thanks

Congrats Hamed..Vancouver office initiate an app. very quickly. I think mine took 6 weeks because they forgot or something:)  Hope we will get our pr cards very soon.

I heard. they give us in landing interview a chance to change name and lastname if we want. Is this true?
did they ask you anything about this?did you filled up any form for PR card?

Well, You never wish to be in my shoes today. Well, as I have explained my situation to few seniors and disscused my matters with them, But today have exprienced the strangest way of landing. What happend was I relaized that I need to let immigration knows about change of my material status to a common law relationship. Since I met a girl here in Vancouver and we end up living together as common law for almost a year, So be4 landing I consult this matter with my lawyer and we set up to send some documents indicating the change of my status. The time line were too intense so we made it to the last moment and faxed all the documents to immigration . Hopefully the day after they responsed that I will be landed on Monday and there wont be any delay due to change of mateial status. So I was happy till I got there and the officer told me that I wont be able to land and have to postpond my landing to let my common law be examined and be added later. So diappointed and thought I would be only rejected landed on landing day. On the way back home they text me and told me they have mistaken and had some incorrect infomation and invited me back to sign and be landed today. Any way afterall I got landed and it is all over. Now I can sponsor my common in law partner and I am so happy wish you all best.

Yes I checked my ecas a week after I landed and my ecas says"complete" instead of "in process" in the first page. And when I click that link there is one more line saying that I landed on blabla..
