Hi there.

We got a letter on June 17th, saying that CIC is happy to announce that my permanent residence will be issued as soon as they received the final payment and medical results. We've made the payment and when I checked online two days later it stated that they have received the medical results - I also called my doctor who confirmed that they got the "ok" from CIC.

My question is whether anyone got a letter like this as well and could tell me how long it took until they've received the visa. So far the status of my application is still 'in process' and I haven't heard anything else from them. It's kind of important to me since I'm hesitant to quit my job, our appartment etc. before I have an actual visa in my hands.

Thanks in advance.

It says 2 months on the website, but from people's personal experiences, the delay seems to be anywhere from 2-4 weeks.

I was shocked to hear 2 months.

I thought it's normal to pay the final payment at the end. Just to clarify I am talking about the Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF).

Thank you for the quick answers.

ok, thanks.

Would you advise to wait with quitting jobs (3 months notice)? As far as I understand there's basically nothing that could stop them from giving me the PR, right? The plan is to keep working until the end of October and move to Canada in Mid-December...

We have not seen anywhere it taking 2-4 wks, we paid ours 26 April and are still waiting for our PPR. Have rang the CIC website many times, case specific emails three times, still waiting.

Just make sure your visa doesn't expire before then. I know it definitely expires 1 year from the medical exam but other than that I'm not sure. You might have to land sooner.

Hello there.

Can someone pls confirm that this means I will get the visa in the next few weeks?

They stated in their last letter that the visa is ready to be issued as soon as RPRF is paid and medical results have been received. They have received the medical results and we have made the payment. This means it's done, right? I just have to wait to get the final letter....?

It would put my mind at ease if someone could quickly confirm this since I am basing a lot of decisions on that. Thanks!

We got letter asking us to pay the fees in April, we did, still no news on PPR, personally I wouldn't make any plans until you actually have a request for your passport to issue the visa. Good luck with hearing soon, it's been two and a half months wait for us...

Each process is individual. Consequently it's impossible to say if you will have the final letter in just a few weeks. As lnl has indicated, they have been waiting for a few months.

Hopefully it will only take a few weeks. However I wouldn't make any rash decisions/changes until you have the passport letter in hand.
