I am a Ukrainian citizen applying for a canadian visa in  the us. got denied once. "not enough ties".... the question is - to what country - ukraine? or the usa, where i am applying from, where i have a j-1 status, and which I will be leaving in a month?Huh?

What's your Visa status in USA ? If you are applying from U.S. then you have to show strong ties with U.S. not Ukraine. Cool

I am in the us for three months...i will be returning to ukraine. i am applying in the us because i don't have enough time to do it in ukraine. i cannot prove my ties to the us because there are NO ties.....so,,, no visa for me?
