Hello, can anyone tell me the detailed procedure for working in Canada. I'm a civil engineer with 5 years of experience and presently working in India. I would like to work in Canada. I have got calls from many of the Visa consultancies and they are asking for a huge amount to pay without the confirmation of jobs. So is that the only procedure to get into Canada???

Start by looking through the pages of information here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/eligibility.asp most people do not use a consultant simply due to the cost plus they cannot either guarantee a visa or a job and whilst the process might seem overwhelming it really isnt.

Try seeing how many points you get here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp for any answers requiring answers on English language just make assumptions for now higher score the better but for an example calculation go mid range 6+.

For occupation look here to see which category your occupation is http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/noc.asp needs to be classed as 0,A or B. As a guess Civil engineer is a 2131 classification A but only you can map the responsibilities.

As said read all the information on the CIC website and use this forum for any questions.
