Opt for British council as service and examination environment are perfect.idp system for using rubbish DVD player for listening that too it might run fast in middle .British council examiners are polite and disciplined.idp examiners especially in Kolkata bunch of amateurs.bengali examiner are baised for speaking test .Even a British renowned orator would score max 7 in speaking test.

Well talking about better.. I will say both are same from examination point of view..

BUT

There is one huge advantage of IDP over BC.

In IDP you can order more than one copy of TRF by paying extra amount but in BC there is no way to order additional TRF.

In my case unfortunately I opted for BC and I have to apply for both Canada and Australia. Now canada wants me to send original TRF with application and in that case I can't apply fro australia.

So you can see I am stuck.

I tried to convince BC but they don't agree. They can send TRF directly to embassy but that is not usefull as embassy doesn't accept it.

Idp is not at all best in comparison to Bc..idp have untrained staff on that reason people are facing all difficulties..were as bc staff is well trained ..I am speaking in technical aspect as of my knowledge

You will hear people saying that both are same in terms of grading and difficulty but my personal opinion to you is take your test from British Council and not IDP

hello..

i gave ielts exam from british council last month...

i got overall 6 bands i.e listening-6.5,reading-6.5,writing-5.5,speaking-5.0

i have to give exam just because of 5 bands in speaking...

plz suggest me frm where i give ielts exam-british council or idp?

British Council if far better than IDP. IDP is fraud, look for IDP reviews on Google and Mouthshut, things will become clear to you

YES BRITISH COUNCIL IS LOT BETTER! The IDP guys have useless staff in hyderabad atleast, their scores vary lot, they dont have a standard to choose examiners. They dont even go through what you wrote and spoke and just give you a default score.
Many ppl who scored great in listening and reading score average marks in writing and speaking.
My personal exp I got a 9 in reading n but 6.5 in writing and speaking can u believe the difference??!! i used to earn money as a content writer and was very confident to get good band in writing but IDP screwed it up for me! :-[ :-\

Hyderabad india IDP is worst .............. Scores are pathetic ... Opt for BC...
