Dear Mohit,

The entire thing is a simple process and gets over by 30-45 minutes. Unless u have a medical history of serious illnesses, u'd be thru w/out any hassle. Here's what they check:

Extract from the Medical Request letter of CHC:
Quote/
7. The Designated Medical Practitioner will arrange for the following tests:

- Large PA chest X-ray together with a radiologist's report for any person 11 yrs of age or older.
- Blood test (VDRL or similar test) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- A Urinalysis (sugar, protein, blood) for all applicants 5 yrs of age or older.
- HIV test for any person 15 yrs of age or older, children who have received blood or blood products, or have a known HIV mother, and all potential adoptees.

8. Additional tests may be required if a medical condition is identified. The Immigration Medical Services have provided guidelines to the examining physician, detailing medical situations/conditions which require additional tests. Allowing the examining physician to follow the guidelines at the initial appointment will expedite your application.

Besides the above, there will also be an 'Eye Test'. It is just a long distance reading of the Vission Table.

Hope that helps.

They will also check your blood pressure, hight, weight and will perform general whole body check up. Better drink lots (and I mean lots and lots) of water before going for the urine test to get a good urine report. Don't deposit the first urine of the day.
Get blood pressure checked by some local doctor atleast 48 hours before your medical for immigration. Get medicine if required to make it normal. DMPs usually consider BP reading upto 130/90 as normal. Don't worry, they won't be able to find out about the medicine if you do not rerveal it.
Don't lie about any operation which has left visible scar on your body. Remeber they will throughly (I MEAN IT) check your body so don't lie about anything which they can find out.

Good luck

Do we need to fasting for blood test?

When I was not fasting, my blood suger level is a little elevated.

So I am not sure if the suger level is elevated or not from urinary test? Very worried about that.

Thanks

Are you diabetic? We didn't have to deposit blood while fasting. There's no hard and fast rule. If you think your blood sugar is little bit elevated but you're no way diabetic then you can go for blood test while fasting. Just do not disclose that and they won't be able to find out. But you have to make sure you are not diabetic. For urine test, drink plenty of water for good report.

for diabetic they will do an additional test of kidney known as Serum Creatanine. It checks how much kidney is leaking protein in the blood. A person with long history of diabetes will definitely have elevated figure of Serum Cretanine. An important point to mark is that being a diabetic is no rejection for Canada, however it will be marked as M2 diagnostic (M1 being considered someone with perfect health) the last level in immigration for worst medical condition is M9, so don't worry about being diabetic.

I will be deeply grateful if you can answer me... I'm a nurse from Philippines,
I have read from internet about medical examination protocol, one question is you/ or family have history of diabetes or a family member having dialysis? If my answer is Yes, would it be the reason to be denied?
I had a total removal of thyroid last yr. due to graves disease (currently I'm hypothyroid)- I think maybe this will also cause my appl. to be rejected.
I am in dilemma right now, if I will donate my kidney to my mother this month, but my mother won't allow me because I may not be able to work and live outside the country. However some would say that others who donated their kidney went to work abroad, but they don't know what's the case in Canada. I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure.
I hope you could help me on who to ask and what would be your advise.

Thank you so much...
