hi all
Lets share how long have you been waiting for a hearing, so we can get an idea about the average wait time.

6 months for me.

Unfortunately some get lucky and end up with an earlier hearings it is not a case where everyone gets in line. Depends on location in Canada (now that Quebec and Ontario have taken in the majority of the people coming across the border illegally), how long and complicated your background check is, whether you are part of an expedited group and a lot of luck. They also prioritizing processing legacy cases because they have been waiting for 5+ years. Go ahead and make the list but don't anticipate if someone arrived after you they will get a hearing after you. Doesn't unfortunately work that way at this point.

Whay do you mean someone arrived after you? Do you mean they can get hearing date sooner or after?

In some cases yes. Not the majority. There are multiple centres scheduling things, background checks are not only dependent on the Canadian government so some may be delayed much longer than others, sometimes the Tribunal staff gets sick and needs to reschedule, etc. Expedited cases may get prioritized in some cases. People are also arriving in many ways and in many cities. Don't worry about it too much they try to keep it as fair as possible but if you create a list people may start expecting their case will be soon if someone arrives the day before them. That may not be the case. Every case is different and each case doesn't require the same amount of time to process.
