Hi everybody, I am trying to extend my tourist visa in order to collect 12 months living with my boyfriend. Now, in the form IMM5708 they ask what was the original purpose of visit, should I select TOURISM (as I own a visitor visa and applying for an extension of it) or OTHER and explaining that the reason is specifically visiting my boyfriend? You should be honest.
If you write tourism CIC will expect to see your itinerary, and money to support the scheduled activities.
The "other reason" is not "visiting your boyfriend" is "living with your boyfriend to achieve common law". Visiting implies a short term, which contradicts your real purpose. Common law extensions are quite normal and with high success rate.
