June 15, 2011: emailed Vienna for follow-up
June 17, 2011: received response from Vienna that they were conducting background verification
June 29, 2011: fax a request letter to CSIS
July 15, 2011: ecas shows medical result has been received (2nd)
July 19, 2011: received the CSIS letter dated July 13, 2011 background check is done & result was submitted to CIC July 4, 2011

Any advice on what will be the next step?

If BC is done than probably everything will go much faster. I don't know for sure but I sincerely hope so.
I red somewhere on this forum it's few months for CIC to decide after CSIC checks are done...

You say that you emailed Vienna for follow-up and later you fax request letter to CSIS.
We've never contacted Vienna or CSIS, nor Vienna contacted me since Dec 2010 when they wanted me to provide additional docs.
Do you think that I'll get some useful information if I contact them now? Vienna or CSIS? 8 months has passed since Vienna started to process our application...

Serdj977: Try to email Vienna for follow-ups. There's no harm in trying. The email add are in their website. Asked them for any updates. If they respond background checks are not done then fax a request to CSIS for follow-ups. you are already on the 8 month, the average processing time of Vienna.

I'm trying to focus as much as possible on my application. I like to communicate with people with similar cases and time frames and share with them my experience. It's much easier that way cause they understand this type of long process and these unfair time frames. (doesn't mean that I won't talk to others )
I stopped checking my month applicants topic long time ago lol. Many people that applied after me already landed. Looking at topics with cases completed in few months won't do any good. It will only make you sad.

I was disappointed and grumpy when I found out how long this process could take. My wife said she can't wait I start complaining about crappy weather in BC and not this process . Good thing is my complaining and grumpiness fades away as months go by. Some things we cannot change and chose and this long process is one of them. Keeping myself busy as much as possible is good thing to do and it helps

It's so nice to read us supporting each other through our waits.

As awful as it is, every day of the wait is bringing us one step closer to that person we so much want to be with. It helps me to think about it this way, and not the 'why me?', 'what exclusionary bullshit!!' and similar angry and destructive thoughts.

I also believe that our hard work to keep it together and stay positive in our relationships will benefit us significantly in the long run. We will be less likely to freak out about cooking sarma yet again for our special person , or take it personally when they complain about the rain or whatever.

Cleo, have a great trip! If you find yourself sweating the small stuff while there give rakija a try - I recommend apricot and quince...

Wondering how things are going for everyone.

We emailed Vienna to ask how the record checks are going. And, they emailed back the very same day. It wasn't even a form letter response. Anyway, they said to be patient and there were no updates but would let us know if anything happens. So, even though there's nothing new it made us happy to know that they aren't ignoring us.

Other than that, had a wonderful time in hot humid Belgrade. I'm just sorry I had to leave before Beerfest!
I didn't have any sarma but I'll have you know that I ate 5 1/2 cevapcici. My husband was proud of me. lol.

My wife (VasilisaPrekrasna) contacted them for follow up two weeks ago via Case Specific Enquiry on CIC website and no response... 4 days ago she send email to Vienna and got no response.
It was General Enquiry email : vienn-visa@international.gc.ca. Maybe we should use one they used to contact me.
Which email address did you use to contacted them?
My police clearance and medical expiring in a few weeks... I knew I have to redo them at some point but it just reminds me that one year passed by...

Wow 5 and a half cevapcici? That must be a tough task for you LOL. But you have to admit that they beat every fast food or similar type of food in Canada any day.

We used the email that they used to contact us, just replied to the last email they sent regarding military records.
