My son and I are Canadian citizens already holding OHIPs from Ontario,
We are planning to go to Alberta in the next few months. My husband is returning to Alberta as a PResident but never held a health care insurance from any other province. I know for him he will be eligible from day 1. however for my son and i, we have to do the 3 month wait.
If we require medical assistance during the 3 months, can i still use our OHIPs in Calgary?
I read on their website that they will either bill ministry of health in ontario or bill you and then you get reimbursed after you start your coverage..
Has anyone been through this before?

You should still be covered for the 3 months. Doctors offices/local clinic visits for non emergency reason will probably require you to pay upfront (typically about $100 for the initial visit) and submit the receipts to OHIP for reimbursement. Emergency medical procedures in a hospital are most likely direct billed between The hospital and OHIP.
