Asking a question for a friend:

Say you are an American and want to move to Canada with a Canadian spouse, but still want to work remotely for your U.S. based-company. The company does not do business in Canada.

Provided the American gets landed immigrant status with the Canadian spouse, how does the work arrangement work with the CRA?
Is it legal to do this ?
Is the American entitled to Canadian job benefits?

Yes - it's legal to do this.

You would file taxes in both Canada and the US (Canada because you are living there and the US because you are obligated to file US taxes no matter where you live).

I don't know how employment benefits would work.
