Hello everyone!
I'm new here and very happy I found this place :)
My husband is from Tabio, Colombia and we started the sponsorship process last year.
Timeline looks like this :

Med's Done.....: Oct. 5, 2016
App. Sent........: Oct. 11, 2016
AOR Received..: Nov. 2, 2016
File Transfer....: SA: Nov. 10 / AOR2: Nov. 16, 2016
Additional Proof.: Dec. 6, 2016
CSQ received...: Jan. 26, 2017

HI lamontana
I am sponsoring my parents since 2010. on Jan 31 2017 Bogota finally starting procession the PR visa. They received the CSQ on Apr 2017 and recently (Aug 8 2017) they asked for the police certificate. I see they received your CSQ just before mine.. can you tell me what is next after the police certificate and how long is to get the visa from there? I hope you have yours by now.

Hey guys, anyone applying in 2017 through Bogota? I'm interested in hearing about the timeline for this year
Hi there ! I'm a may applicant, Bogota visa office for family class visa.

May 13 App sent
May 16 App received (ECAS says June 1)
July 1 AOR1
July 10 Schedule A requested
July 13 Sponsor Approval
July 14 Schedule A received (mailed)
July 20 Schedule A replacement
July 26 Schedule A received (mailed)

I sent the app with the medical exam and police clearance certification upfront because I had them since last year. For the moment my ECAS says medical exam received. It has been one month since the sponsor approval and three weeks since the schedule A received, still waiting for the file to be transferred.

Why did you have to send Schedule A twice? They're taking some time transferring the file. Did you link the application online?
They received my application on July 26th, so no AOR for us yet. They're taking longer with those for July applicants as well

Because I worked in the US as an aupair and I didn't write that in the places I lived in with the home address. But it's taking some time transferring with some apps because for May and June applicants are transferring quickly. I couldn't link my app because I have a representative, so I have to wait until the CPC sends emails to my RP and the only way I can check my status is in ECAS. Frustrating me !!!

Yeah, unfortunately for you that must be why it's taking so much. If you need anything or have questions you'd like to ask, I'm happy to help you out. Wish you good luck! Hope you get the AOR2 soon!

They received our application in July 26th. I'm Andrew, my wife is Canadian. The background check takes up to 3 business days with Omnitempus and it costs 65 000 Colombian pesos and they send it directly to the embassy. I've heard the visa office in Bogota is going really fast with these applications, I heard it shouldn't take any longer than 6 months from the moment they received the application in Mississauga, assuming the case is a normal, until you get the passport with the visa and the COPR. I even submitted my military card, which I just got one week before my wife went back to Canada in July 19th. Was able to get it all notarized and translated too, fortunately the day before she left Colombia.

But the police certificate is the same background check ? Or is that different ?

Yes, it's the same thing
I hope that they don't ask for it again because is attached in my app and I got it in the cancilleria page and in that way doesn't take more time to get a decision made. If not, to wait until they ask me for the police clearance again. I cant wait to received the AOR2 because then everything in Colombia would be faster. My representative said that once the Schedule A form has been received and processed into the application (approximately 2-3 weeks), the application for permanent residence will be sent to the VO. Tomorrow would be 3 weeks...
I hope u get the AOR1 soon as well, some apps get it at time or before. It takes approximately 4-6 weeks. Good luck !

They might ask you for it again since they are valid for just a few months, I don't remember if 6 or 12. It would still be okay, it's just 3 business days through those companies, they're really fast and they send it directly to the embassy, probably in English, you don't deal with any of it

Hi Dani, I don't really know. I've heard it takes about 2-3 weeks. But honestly, one never knows for sure with them, it's just an estimate, it can be longer. I hope to hear from you so I can have an idea of how smooth the process is once the file is in Bogota. There is a tiny possibility I'll get AOR1 next week, but I really doubt it. Two of the forms we submitted were outdated (the website didn't show they had been updated until after July 27th at least) so I'm a little worried they would return the application, but I hope they'll just do it as they've done it in the past, just sending us an email requesting to mail them the updated forms. Good luck!

Let's to wait what happens. I know that to get the AOR2 takes about 5 days, so I'll be waiting and for the background check I don't know how to check it in ECAS because how I have a representative, I don't know if ECAS add a line about it. Do you know how many Colombians started the process this year and Colombians who have the app in Bogota since last years ?

I have no idea. I don't really see Colombians active on this forum, I think they don't follow the forum. I'm sorry you have to do it through a representative. May I ask if it's a lawyer? Everyone here, unless you have a really complicated case, think lawyers for this is a waste of money, and also delays the process a bit longer than if it were without a lawyer. I truly do wish you get it soon. Also, if you want, you can send me private messages so we can keep the conversation there, perhaps it would be easier.
