Hello I'm new here. I'm sponsoring my husband to come to Canada. The file was received in Rabat in early September and on September 19th they started processing the file. Does anyone know from experience how long it typically takes from when they start to process it?

thanks!

They asked us to send all the NEW information since we originally sent our file in December 2015.

We did send in all the information we had up until December 2015 - they wanted new chats, pictures etc. since January of 2016.

If you had read the other posts on this page - you would have seen - that I previously posted that my husband was approved after his interview on September 28, 2016.

Thanks for the replies everyone, I really appreciate it! I was hoping he would be home for Christmas with his daughter. Our lawyer suggested that we apply for a visitors permit so he can be here for Christmas, but my husband is nervous that it will be denied. Our lawyer suggested that it MAY speed up the process. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Re: Interview in Rabat

Hi, this forum has been pretty quiet lately. I've pretty much read through this forum when I was searching for information for my own application ... and I don't recall anyone being told to make themselves available for their spouse's interview. Maybe this is a new development with the Rabat office because in the past, there were some people who attended the interview with their spouse, but they waited outside the interview and were not interviewed by the VO.

The best thing to do now is to prepare for the interview ... you and your husband should go through the list of interview questions which are usually asked and be sure that your answers are the same, and be sure that your husband knows many details about your daily life.

Here is a list of some of the questions they might ask:

1. When and where did you meet your spouse for the first time?
2. How did you meet your spouse?
3. How old is your spouse? What is your spouse's birth date?
4. What does your spouse do for a living?

30. If it was arranged describe how it was arranged and by whom?
31. Did you have a ceremony celebrating your relationship?
32. Where was it held?
33. When was it held?
34. Describe the ceremony?

36. When did you get married?

I wonder if that is a new development in the Rabat office? This thread is pretty quiet but when many people were following it, it was easier identify "trends" from the Rabat office. I do know of one woman who attended the interview but waited outside while her husband was interviewed. Then when the interview was over, she was invited in, but I think at this time the husband's interview had already been successful.

Which visa officer interviewed your husband and called you? I think the VOs already have their minds made up before the interview.

Hi MaryL,

Congratulations on winning your appeal. Yet another waiting game for you and your husband but at least you know that the end result of this current waiting game ends with your new life together in Canada insha'Allah.

Thank you so much! Jamali. Our appeal was on May 9. June 5 my husband's app was received by Ottawa. As Mississauga seems to have a backlog. Am praying for mid August. Will have to wait and see.
Bless you, Inshallah

Alice has asked me for help in their appeal. So we have exchanged some info. All I know is that the visa officer who interviewed her husband was a male.

I am getting married to a moroccan this month. we have been in a relationship for one and half years and we are both same reliigion.
We are very compatible and know a lot about each other. Our famalies have no problems with each other and just want to see us happy.
I wondering how many visits must we make to each other before the immigration consultant believes we are a legit couple?
We are not rich people either one of us. but we are sincere and believe in Allah everything is possible... please advise....
salam

Are they vo's in rabat all nonmuslims???
Why do they expect to see all these non Islamic practises in the marriages they question

Like elaborate weddings and premarital dating???
Subhana Allah

They are gonna be in shock when they meet me. I'm simply following our messenger pbuh and won't comprise.
When I said in my previous post about my relationship, it is courting relationship not dating.

But alhamdulillah, I and my fiance fear Allah alone...so vo people are not gonna scare me. I've been through it before

Wow, that is quick ... hopefully your husband receives his PPR soon and arrives here while the weather is still beautiful, wouldn't want his first impression of Canada to be in the dead of winter lol.

Although this was in 2014, but both my husband and I got an email saying that they were ready to issue the visa and they gave him an appointment to come into the embassy. The email was received on February 21st and his appointment was for March 5th. I'm sure it's not the same for everyone though, some people's files just seem to move along more quickly.

Good luck and hope this is a fast process for you both!
