Hi all.. I am new to this forum.

I just got my WES evaluation report today.

I am a registered nurse in the Philippines with 4 years experience. I know i can get 19 points for my education as "2-year diploma post secondary education" equivalent in canada. My problem is, the report says "Major/specialization: NURSING ASSISTANT" where, in fact, I am a REGISTERED NURSE. I am applying for the NOC-registered nurse for fswp 2014. Will this disqualify me?

I have an aunt in canada who got her visa through fsw program back in 2009 as a registered nurse. Back then, CIC do not require an ECA so she got in.. But if they do, I believe she and many other fellow nurses will have a similar WES evaluation result.

To become a nurse in the Philippines, we only need 6 years elementary education + 4 years secondary education + 4 years bachelor's degree education. Total: 14 years

I hope this will not disqualify me in the fswp. Any advice?

WES report as follows:

CREDENTIAL ANALYSIS

1 Credential Authentication: Official transcripts were sent directly by the institution
Country: Philippines
Credential: Bachelor of Science
Year: 2008
Awarded by: (Name of school deleted)
Institution Status: Recognized
Admission requirements: Completion of ten years of primary and secondary education
Length of program: Four years
Major/Specialization: Nursing Assistant
Canadian Equivalency: Completion of secondary school education and Diploma (two years)

Anybody could shed light? Thank you so much!

you could submit copies of the final transcripts from each of these educational points you have mentioned in the route to becoming a RN in the philippines.

that would be sufficient.

good luck.

Thanks for the reply propain.

I only have one transcript for my elementary, secondary, and bachelors degree. I am not sure how it goes in other countries, but in the Philippines, our credentials ( transcript and other school records) are endorsed to by the previous school/program to the next school/program. Which means, my bachelors degree transcript contains the number of years of my elementary and secondary education and the name of the schools I attended, but without the grades.

Anyway, my main concern is, I checked the Canada education requirements for nurses, it requires 4 -year post secondary diploma (total of 16 years of education) and as mentioned in my first post, philippines only require 14 years of total education (2-year post secondary diploma equivalent to canada) to become a nurse.

Will CIC reject my fswp application because of the difference of education requirements equivalent? I was thinking that maybe WES evaluated "nursing assistant" instead of "registered nurse" because of the difference of years of education for nurses in canada and in the Philippines.

Any opinion?

Thank you

Hi Margaux... Are you also from Philippines? If not, does your country also only require a total of 14 years of education to become a nurse? Did you use WES or a different evaluation institution? Does it also say "nursing assistant"?

I was also thinking of using 3233 instead of 3012 because of the WES evaluation.

What do you think?

Thanks!

Mabuti at May karamay pala akong pinoy Rin :) English lang tayo para Kung May taga Ibang bansa man na makabasa, Baka matulungan tayo.

I know you can send as many applications as you like under different NOCs... But I guess this is too expensive since you will need to pay separate fees for each application. In my case we are a family of 3 (husband, wife, child) so that would be about $1250 per application. Then another problem is the requirements, NBI only provides 1 copy of the result and IELTS also only provides 1 copy of the result ( I am not sure if we can get a duplicate copy of the result or we would need to take another exam for it - if it's the latter, it would be both expensive and time consuming since you would need to wait for another exam schedule)

that's true willow. It's expensive and impractical if we're going to send 2 applications. I still need to wait for my husband's IELTS exam 'coz we didn't reach 67 points. Around 2 mos before sending our final application. :)

thanks!

When is your husband taking his IELTS exam?

Do you already have yours?

If you have 7 years of experience, I think you can easily reach the 67 points needed. No need for your husband to take the IELTS exam.

I see.. Yeah! Your husband better take IELTS just to be on the safer side.

Did you consider getting a representative/ immigration consultant to process your papers? I know there are many, but they are very expensive. I attended an orientation and if you will avail of their service, you'll need to pay PHP75,000.

Did you get one? Or you just processed your papers by yourself?

By the way, a guy from another forum where I raised my concern replied this: (what do you think?)

"@ Willow05

What you need is to check if your main duties as a REGISTERED NURSE in Philippine is in line with the main duties as specified here http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/QuickSearch.aspx?val65=3012

You also need to check if you meet the minimum required 67 points. Worry less about the job title/Major Specialization in NURSING ASSISTANT."

Hi everyone!

I am new here and I just ran into this forum so I decided to become a part of it.
My problem is similar to Willow05. I also had my credentials assessed by WES and I got results saying that I am a Nursing Assistant (Diploma 2 years)when in my country (Croatia) I am a Baccalaurea of Nursing with total of 14 years of schooling. 8 years of elementary school,4 years of secondary school, which is a Medical School for Nurses at the same time, and 2 years of post-secondary college. That is the highest level of education for Nurses here.I also have 18 years of experience as a RN.
I have doubts and don't know if I can apply as a FSW since WES did not evaluate that I am a RN.
Willow05 did you apply or do you have any new information?
Thank you...

Hi margaux_thomas! :)

Are you sure about that? By the way I do reach 67 points...
It would be so nice if that is true...I think I will apply and we'll see what happens.
Thank you...I will inform you about the progress of my case...

Hi
If you are deemed that your education is only for 2 years post secondary, then your application will be rejected if you apply under RN category. You will be only eligible to apply under LPN or RPN or AN category that is noc 3233. I have seen many cases got rejected on this issue. Even if you reach 67 points it does not qualify you since you do not meet the criterion for education.
And if you are applying under LPN category your job responsibility letter ( reference letter) should match with your job as lpn.you cant apply with RN reference letter for lpn. in that case also your application will be rejected.
Hope this information will help you.
