Phone connection

Is it preferable to go to Canada and then buy a phone connection or can we have it right here in India(home country) and then take it there.

Do we have a preffered connection that immigrants tend to choose initially after landing?
Any suggestion?

I guess it depends on the area you're in. We're using chatr, in the brampton / downtown areas - works fine.

Online options in such cases are usually limited. Better is to be there, research and then buy one.
