i read on internet that the ontario health system doesnt cover medicines, is this true? I am a new PR here and will get health card soon. I usually take anti alergy tablets and a few ones too (sprays etc), so I guess i would need to visit doctor which is covered and then he will write those prescription medicines and I go to medical store to buy them. Is this how it goes here?

Yes - that's correct. OHIP doesn't cover either prescription or over-the-counter medicines. You will have to pay for these out of your own pocket. Whether you need a prescription depends on the kind of anti-allergy tables you take. There are plenty available over-the-counter (without a prescription).
