need an advice Montreal

I'm looking for a condo right now, and don't know:
1) in what area is better to buy?
2) what is better condo or a house?
3)Is it good to buy out of the Montreal Island?

Found some good offers, but I'm not sure is it so good I'm not very good in real estate thing
