Moving from US to Canada - Clearing customs with personal belongings (4+ rooms)

I was wondering how long it takes for your items to clear a customs center, if they are transported by a mover?
And I am generally wondering if the process is made easier if one hires a moving company vs. if you drive your own U-HAUL truck, customs-wise at least. Any experiences and recommendations are welcome!
