in my opinion genona if you double check with Montreal that if they are receiving ME applications and then send it, it would be safe.

I just want to share with you the latest news, although we have completed our process at Damascus and got our CSQs, currently our file is processed at Abu Dhabi for PR. We have received an e-mail confirming that:

DAMASCUS office is closed, all files transfered to MONTREAL. See e-mail below:

Fermeture du Bureau d'immigration du Québec à Damas et rapatriement des activités à Montréal

Le ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles informe sa clientèle et ses partenaires que le Bureau d'immigration du Québec à Damas est dorénavant fermé.

Les activités d'immigration qui s'y tenaient sont dorénavant réalisées à partir des bureaux du Ministère à Montréal.

Le Ministère tient à rassurer sa clientèle et ses partenaires quant à son engagement à poursuivre ses opérations en provenance du Moyen-Orient, avec la même diligence, le plus rapidement possible. Les entrevues de sélection menées par le Ministère avec les candidats en provenance du Moyen-Orient seront réalisées sur des territoires voisins facilement accessibles pour la clientèle. Il s'agit d'une pratique courante pour le Ministère sur plusieurs territoires.
Veuillez noter qu'en raison du rapatriement des activités à Montréal, vous recevrez la lettre confirmant l'ouverture de votre dossier dans un délai plus long. Soyez cependant assuré que notre Direction vous fera parvenir cette lettre aussitôt que votre dossier sera ouvert. Celui-ci sera considéré en traitement à partir de ce moment-là. Si votre dossier est en cours de traitement à notre bureau, nous répondrons à votre demande uniquement si le délai de traitement dépasse la norme de service énoncée.

Autrement, notez que nous avons reçu votre message et que le traitement de votre demande suit son cours. N'oubliez pas de tenir compte des délais postaux de votre pays avant de communiquer avec nous pour effectuer un suivi. Votre envoi peut souvent prendre plusieurs semaines à nous parvenir.

thx for posting, yeah i knew thats why ive change the address to be sent my application which is montreal.. im just confused because im going to send only the notarized copy of my work experience instead of original because i only have 1 orig copy left bcoz i know its difficult to request another one from previous employers incase it might get lost ..

I am Alia, living with my husband and 2 young daughters in Abu Dhabi.
I am new to this forum, and to the whole process as well! So I am hoping you can assist me, please .
We are currently collecting our documents in order to send our application. I (as principal applicant) have achieved IELTS, but I will also sit for TEFaq. Has anyone done that test? Any input is VERY VALUABLE!!

My other questions are many, so please help:
1- Does my husband need to provide proficiency of English or French?
2- How do I fill section 8.1 in the application??
3- Where should I send the application documents to (due to issues in Damascus)
4- What happens after I send the application documents?
5- How long does the whole process take?

Answers - based on my experience - to your questions:
1- My G/F & I have the same situation, she is principal applicant, I took my IELTS and registered for TEFAQ but didn't take the exam yet
2- Fill up the education levels down to your Secondary education only (University, High School, Secondary ...........)
3- Montreal:
Management of economic migration - International
Service North America, North Africa and Middle East
Department of Immigration and Cultural Communities
285, rue Notre-Dame West, 4th Floor
Montreal (Quebec) H2Y 1T8
4- Wait for AOR (Acknowledgment Of Receipt), then invitation for interview or interview waver
5- Depends on complete applications without mistakes, the site indicates 12 months approx for CSQ & 17 Months for PR - MAXIMUM time lines

Thanks for the reply and good luck, u r almost there!!
I wanna ask u a question that may sound silly at this stage, but why did u choose quebec and not a federal application, or another province?
I am asking u this because I am finding the request of french proficiency an issue, because my husband is a beginner in French, I'm worried it might affect our file. What do u think?

Hello Alia,

The reason we chosen Quebec because I am Jordanian and -sucks in French- sorry for my language, but my girlfriend in Romanian and her first Language is French......................................

The main reason was because Quebec is way faster process than federal................... we both have high IELTS scoes... but Quebec is higher style area to live and work if you know french than other provinces.........

hi mef, how are things, been away for a while after sending my papers, sent it last week of may but i havent received my Aor..and been lazzyy studying french..hehe but im trying to focus on it right now...bydway, when can i expect them to send my AOR? thx!

Under normal conditions it shouldn't take longer tha 3-4 months, whre did you send your application to?

@ mef,ive mailed my application in montreal since damascus is now closed...and I also note in my application that im under 2009 preferred jobs, hope it helps expedite the processing..
