I am posting this from Toronto airport. Landing procedures are complete. Now waiting for connecting flight to Saskatoon.
Landing procedure was as simple as it could be. They only asked for passport and CoPR (long paper which they issue along with visa).
Also asked the amount of money carrying which should be less than CAD $10,000. I am carrying about CAD $5000 cash. So no issue here either.

Then I went for SIN#. There were 2 guys in front of me, also there for new SIN#. Total time it took was no more than 20 minutes.

I had experience letters, bank statement, all ready. But they did not ask for them.

Good luck to new immigrants planning to come.

Hi Many congratulations to you.

Am travelling next week along with my wife and 5 months old son. Am supposed to carry around 20,000 SGD for 3 of us, but since i cannot carry more than 10k, am planning to take Demand draft (Traveller's cheque is no more issued in Singapore these days). But when i inquired the rates, i am losing around 400-500 sgd in currency conversion and commission if i take the Demand draft. Can you advise me an easier option please.

the rules are if carrying more than 10k cdn you should declare it, there is no rule saying an individual cannot have more than 10k as long as they declare the TOTAL amount , the 10k and anything over, that includes ALL currency in possession when arriving not just canadian dollars and includes any chqs or bank drafts. See here

Ultimately depends how comfortable someone is carrying that much cash as opposed to a wire transfer where you avoid the need to declare at the border.
