A few days back, I landed safely at Vancouver airport. Completed all the formalities in just 45 minutes. I will write about my landing experience in detail later on.

For now, I need to apply for MSP. I have gone through their website and found out that I need to submit an application form (HLTH 102) to get MSP coverage. However, I am not sure about the supporting documents I need to send and have some other queries to clarify. I would appreciate if someone can clear my doubts.

- What supporting documents I need to send with my application? I have got SIN, a bank account and wifi connection in my name.
- Do they need certified/ attested photocopies?
- Is there any location where I can submit my application in person? If not, can anyone please suggest how to mail them? I don't know anything about Canada post.
- Do we get any kind of online account to manage our MSP coverage?

Thanks in advance.

1) First of all, you need to determine whether or not you are eligible to apply for it in the first place.

Check out the requirement here - BC MSP Eligibility Requirements

2) If you are eligible, you need to fill out an application form and send it over to the Health Ministry Office by regular mail - BC MSP Application Form

- Basically, you need to attach the proof of your identity (passport page with bio), verification of your status in Canada (copy of Study / Work permit or PR card, if you have it).

3) Note that there is a Coverage Waiting Period of approximately 2.5 - 3 months before you become eligible for / covered under the BC MSP

Here is some official info on Coverage Waiting Period

4)During this time, you may get covered with a private health insurance plan. Check some options and get a free quote here - Medical Insurance for Newcomers
