Hi All

My PR got approved in April 2013. I've visited Canada twice since then.
  • The first time I stayed for 3 months - Holidays
  • The second time I stayed for around 9 months - I worked Full time with a Bank during this time.

My Canadian PR is expiring on 23 April 2018.

I've been staying in Australia since 2006.I'll be eligible for Australian citizenship on 18 March 2018 which gives me 1 month to enter Canada.

What happens if I enter Canada 1 month before my PR card expires ? Would I be able to stay in Canada and continue my stay ?

You are currently in violation of the PR Residency Obligation (assuming you aren't living with a Canadian citizen spouse).

This means that next time you try to enter Canada, you can be reported by CBSA for not meeting the RO, and process started to revoke your PR status. The expiry date on your PR card is irrelevant to you meeting the RO or not.

If you enter Canada without being reported, then you will will need to stay for approx 2 years or until you have accumulated 2 years of physical residency in a 5 year period. While doing this, you would be unable to leave Canada for any reason. Only then could you apply to renew your PR card.
