DELF vs TEF

Hi,
Finally got the call from AF and got the dates. Just a question wat is the difference between TEF and TCF exam.??

Also, please help as to what parts we have to take of TEF eamination..i.e both compulsory and optional.

I am planning to take TEF as well through AF (but not in India).

CIC website says:

Note: You must submit results from the following TEF tests as proof of your French language skills:

compréhension écrite
compréhension orale
expression écrite
expression orale

Therefore, I am taking the 3 obligatory and 2 optional sections of test (Complete TEF) to satisfy the above requirements.

TCF is another exam (which I think is more for further studies purpose), so forget about it.

Appreciate your reply, could also tell me the time period between the taking the TEF exam and the result.Its 13 days for IELTS, but for TEF i am not sure.

Hi Shahi,

Actually there is no clear timeline, but what I have seen and heard from Alliance Francaise, is that within 4 weeks from exam date, you receive score via email, one week later, they send the certificate.
As for me, I'm still waiting to hear the result.

By the way, I didn't take my exam in Dubai but just searched in internet and came across this which confirms what I say. See the Results section: http://www.afdubai.com/english/html/exams%20TEF.htm

Thanks for the link, but its is the manual for TCF and NOT TEF. TCF is another exam.

Anyway, I have sit for TEF exam recently, and have the TEF MANUAL as well as some sample TEF questions which I have downloaded from their website. If someone is interested to receive them, and doesn't have time to go and search for them by himself, send me a message and I can email them to him/her.

One update: I've received my TEF results via email now, approximately 22 days after my test date.

Actually all have this confusion that whether DELF A1 and DELF A2 recognized by cic or not. In my experience they do give 2 points for just DELF A1. But I'm fully agree with Lion that we can't gareenty of getting 2 points from DELF A1. My friends from nepal have applied for PR with their DELF A1 certificate. But One got 2 points and other didn't . Its surprise. so no one can gareenty that you'll get points from DELF. But if u have TEF certficate then they never cut the points.
