Hi guys,

I have read that if you deliver a baby in canada (as a PR), if I use the BC msp (vancouver) then i have to stay after delivery for 6 months so that they don't come after me to charge me.. Is this true?

Even so, you have to pay premiums. Why don't you go to somewhere else where you don't need to pay premiums?

Yes - it's true. If the province thinks that you have abused your health care privileges they may come after you for the costs of the treatment you received. Based on what we've seen here - you end up paying quite a bit more if this happens than if you just paid it out of your own pocket.

Thank you scylla, but do i have to stay in canada for 6 months after delivery? or for 6 months in a year? I am going to land while i am 4 months pregnant and sill leave after one month of delivery.. This way it's six months..

Insurance premiums - You give payments to the Government for your MSP coverage!
