Received my AOR, dated dec 22, today, along with a request for further police records.

That's awesome news!

Did you receive it through email? Was the request for further police records on a separate letter?
I have not received any request for records yet, they just mentioned they would send it soon, but it has not arrived yet.

It was in the same letter although, for the record, the one I received doesn't say it's an AOR at least not specifically, but it does give the following pointers:

- Processing time once it's in the Mexico city office is 6 months and can take longer for incomplete/complicated applications.

- That you must receive this letter after 60 days, otherwise you should contact the office via email or mail, providing your application number, name, date of birth, phone number and email address for the office to send you a copy.

It also says that they WILL request for processing at this time:
= Payment of Right of Permanent Residence Fee (instructions in cic.gc.ca)
= Mexican Police Certificate (instructions and letter enclosed)

Any documents being sent must have a label attached on the top right corner with the "file number" (which is in this letter)

This is what worries me
Quote from: letter
Immigrant visas have a validity limited to one year from the date when the medical examinations were initiated or the validity of the passport which ever is first. Please ensure to have a valid passport. No extensions are granted once visas are issued.

It goes on to say that the interview may or may not be required, but if it is so, you will be notified of the appointment's date approximately one month in advance, and that if you fail to show up or bring everything they ask for the interview, the entire application WILL be denied because it's in direct violation to the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Act, following sections 11 and 41.

They also request for me to tell them if any of my personal circumstances change, in particular of family composition, change of address (email address too), change of representative, or a request for withdrawal.

The Police Record (Carta de Antecedentes Registrales) has a validity of 15 natural days from the signing date, and the formal consular request has a validity fo 90 days, ... which I just realized are from dec 22. No biggy, I just booked a flight to (ugh...) Mexico city. Bonbon, are you casually there? I still don't know who I'll be staying with there haha, I don't have money for 10 days of hotel.

Furthermore, we must send the police record within 60 days for the application to continue processing. eCAS doesn't show anything still although the application number in this letter is different from the original of the application submitted in Canada, and I can indeed access eCAS with these numbers (and my info, not my wife's), but it doesn't show anything at all either.

Hope this helps Smiley

Thanks for this information, jendrian!
Seems like you received the same letter that GT25 and I did. I haven't been contacted back with instructions for the Federal Police Record. I'm in Toronto with my husband right now (have been here as a visitor since February 2010) so I'm expecting to receive directions to get the Informe de Datos Registrales instead of the Carta de Antecendentes Penales. The Embassy is able to get the Informe so there's no need for you to travel to "ugh" Mexico City (what's ugh about it by the way?). I would wait for the Embassy's instructions before booking a flight.
Check the Mexico thread on this site. There is a girl MexiCana who got the Carta for her husband who lives in Canada as a visitor, and her Carta was not accepted by Buffalo Embassy. She is now waiting for the Informe to be sent from the Embassy in Mexico to Buffalo. As I said, it's better to wait.
I'm wondering if GT25 has heard back from the Embassy yet...

You mention a formal request from the Embassy. Did they send you any letter requesting specifically Carta de Antecedentes Penales? In order to get the Carta, you need an additional letter from the Embassy and bring it to PGR when you apply for the Carta.

oh I see, well I'm not very fond of Mexico city haha, I've had nothing but bad experiences there.

Anyway, I shall wait too, I just finished gathering all the requirements and will go there personally since I need to pass to Guadalajara as well. Lot's of stuff to do before I can go to the great white north.

In my case they gave me instructions to send 3 sets of fingerprints, copy of passport page with my data.  3 photographs front and 3 right side , it was sent along US background check and RCMP criminal record.

Hey Everyone. Hope you all are making lots of progress. Just thought I'd update. I received my PR Card in the mail a couple days ago. Just working on getting my Driver's License here now. So I landed Nov 19th, & got my PR Card around Jan 6th. Guess thats how long its taking to process and send them out now! Good luck.

We finally got our PPR request today, January 10th!! Our e-cas status never changed, guess you can't rely too much on it. Does anyone know how long they keep the passport for? Good luck to everyone else!

Congrats Dinchymus!!  Way to go!

Not sure about times, however I just searched vienna trying to see if there was an easy answer and there seems to be a number of threads in regards to people's experience.  Hopefully that helps  Wink

GT25 and jendrian:

I received a letter from the Embassy today through snailmail. They actually sent it on 12/04/2010 so it took more than 1 month to make it here. Sad
Anyway the good news is that they're requesting the Carta de Antecedentes Registrales from the PGR, which takes ~ 10 days only to be issued.
The bad news is that I have 20 days (more like 18) to ask my parents to get it and send it to the Embassy.

Aw sorry to hear you have such a short period of time to obtain that.  At least it only takes 10 days to get.  Hopefully that's the only document they need to complete your application!

Thanks for the support kelkel! Smiley
Your file might be completed way before mine!! Ours had 2 major delays: they took ~1 month to start processing our file once it got to Mexico City, and the letter took more than 1 month ( Sad ) to arrive with the requesting letter for police certificates..
We're expecting the visa to arrive before April and to land in May after a 3-4 week vacation in Mexico Smiley
