So this "AOR" thing, is that the letter they send you saying your application is now at your visa office (example: Buffalo) and they give you your Immigration File Number?

Yep  Some people get them and others don't. Some people get them right when they arrive at the visa office and others get them a month before they are issued their visa. I think it depends on the immigration officer (IO) that you have. More people than not get them though. |

Got our sponsorship approval letter in the mail today. We saw it show up on eCAS a few days ago but didn't want to post anything till we knew for sure! It got approved on the 14th  |

i've submitted my application last month but havent gotten anything from the mail yet.. whats the next step? i read somewhere that they check theirs on eCAS... what is it and when and where can i access it?

eCAS is a service where you can check the status of your application online. This is the webpage: https://services3.cic.gc.ca/ecas/You will be able to access it with your sponsor's information when a decision has been made about your sponsorship application. According to what we've seen, sponsorship approvals are sent in a month or less. 1. If the PR is granted does it specify that one has to enter canada before say a particular date or a month something like that ?
2. If I travel to canada well before the specified time can I leave the country again in a few days say weeks. I have few things to settle back home.
3. Regarding sponsoring my parents after getting my PR, can I sponsor my parents even though I live outside of canada.

Hi 7secs! 1. Yes, you will be given a deadline to land in Canada. Usually, they set a date to land before your medicals expire (1 year). 2. You don't need to stay in Canada, you can go back to your country right after you land. The only problem is that if you have your PR card sent to a canadian address you'll have to ask someone to pick it up for you and send it to you so you can come back in. 3. You need to be in Canada to sponsor them. |
