I've had a look around the forums, but only found a small inland thread. I'm curious how many more people are currently applying to go to Quebec from abroad. I filed my application on May 5, so I am currently awaiting to be approved as a sponsor and receive our letter stating we can carry on our application with the MICC. I hope all goes well and that this extra step won't add to much time to the overall process  Outland Quebec Applicants 2011 |

I'm sponsoring my wife from the US... got her CSQ in March, now waiting and waiting for Buffalo.
And to think, I was really worried that having to do the extra step of going through Quebec would hold up the process... They've been the quickest and most responsive link in the chain so far!
Even though they claim that submitting the application in person won't speed things up, if you are in Montreal it is well worth it, because the forms can be a bit confusing (you need two copies of one of them, signatures in the right places, etc) and they will verify everything for you.

Hello all, thanks dyj2010 to point out to this thread, well my wife is in Quebec and I'm in New York, I'm the one who is completing everything since my wife is not too good at completing forms lol.
I sent our package on 15-04-2011 and I received the email from CPC M on 24-05-2011 stating she was approved as a sponsor, now the next step is to apply for my QCS, the question I have is, do we have to wait until my wife receives the actual letter or can I just print the email I received and send it with the application to the MICC? any thoughts?
The email stated the file has been transfered to Buffalo, I still need to do my meds which I'm hoping to do in the upcoming weeks, just in case I also have a most updated FBI records because I read they expire after 3 months.
I'm hoping everything will be done before the year ends, good luck to everyone.

we applied for SCQ one month ago or less .. it's not approved yet !! how much time it takes ?? |

I guess I am part of this. Applying outland, but we are in Montreal since January and I am on a visitor visa.
Sent application to Mississauga on February 14th
Application was returned from Mississauga on March 15th
The reason for it being returned was "did not meet the requirements for common-law" - which we did. Wrote a letter stating there was over 100+ pages in the application which showed that we did qualify and all he had to do was look at the index showing this (which was never returned to us).</rant>.
I had to obtain a new police certificate as the other one would now be out of date, which took some time.
Returned application to Mississauga on May 1st
Sponsorship application approved on May 4th
Application received+medicals in London on May 12th
CSQ application dropped into Montreal office on May 13th (We were told it would take 20 working days)
Still waiting on this.
As a side note I received a interesting email from the London office on May 20th:
"We usually receive our visa office copy of the approval from the Quebec Government MICC. To date on your application, we have not received Quebec Immigration Approval, if you have received, the CSQ/Engagement, please forward us a copy of these documents."
Good luck to everyone else, hopefully it is a smoother ride for everyone!
