Hey Guys!
I've been waiting over two years now for my hubby's visa and just got the second medical done on
Jan/16/2012. They also asked for police report and three additional forms which needed updating..
Schedule 1, Additional Family Info & IM0008. He sent them off along with my doctors letter stating
my pregnancy on Jan/23/2012.
My question was how long would it take for PPR??

Pinklady or anyone that has ANY input it would be appreciated!!
Thankss..!!

Was just about to post how BORED I am of waiting, then read liza5's post - you have been waiting 2 YEARS?  OMG?  What on earth is happening there?  I'm guessing a long story and please don't feel you need to re-count it, I expect it is a painfully long tale!  I can't honestly say how long it will be until PPR, other than that it sounds like they are getting ready to finalise things with yet another medical and re-done forms.  So maybe in the next month?  Although things have moved on now in terms of what they do for the final stages.  They were supposed to have stopped doing PPR's for applicants (from 1st Dec 2011) from visa exempt countries and instead they mail you COPR.  But there 's been evidence on here that PPR's and COPR's are being issued - and in some cases they are asking for photocopies of your passport prior to issuing COPR.  So who knows, but fingers crossed for you.

Anyway, I'm still fed up waiting- like you TrickyDicky!  Except you have been waiting a little longer.  It's only been 2 weeks for me since Decision Made.  I emailed them yesterday but haven't received a reply or acknowledgment of receipt - am wondering if I should have emailed them via the webform on the CIC site I found, rather than just an email from my account?

I'm so envious. We entered 'in process' on the same day as you, the only difference being I was then issued a RPRF because our stupid lawyer didn't tell us we could pay this up front. She actually didn't tell us anything, just, "The fees are all paid." Was so peed off to get that little document in the post and to find that it could delay us by up to 8 weeks!! All this rage is compounded by the fact that perhaps, just maybe, if this had been paid in the beginning, we'd be DM by now (since you are!). ARGH! We did everything we were supposed to and now we're delayed anyway.  Cry

Don't be angry. Things are delayed yes, but you are going to get a positive decision otherwise they wouldnt of requested the RPRF. Try and be happy about that bit at least! It won't be much longer and once you arrive in Canada you'll realise it was all worth it.

Hey Victorfoxtrot!
Yessss its been a crazy long process for us the main reason being would of been background checks which lasted a year! I really hope we get something in a month or so that would be fantastic! Have my fingers crossed... I didnt know they stopped giving PPR instead they send a COPR.. anyways whatever it may be i just want him here lol its been enough!!.. Lets see, thanks alot for ur reply Victorfoxtrot! Hope u get some news soon aswell!

We're going to flagpole next week (taking the train down to Niagara Falls and doing it on foot).  Does my British partner need to apply for a visa waiver via ESTA?

We don't actually plan to visit the US.  The CIC agent told us we can just walk up to American customs/immigration, tell them we wish to follow the flagpole procedure to land as a Canadian permanent resident, and then be referred to the Canadian customs/immigration booth.

So: ESTA or no ESTA?  Anything else we should know about landing at Niagara Falls?

Have just done my landing at Cootes AB. Pleased to say was a very straight forward process which I shall recount here;

Rode, yes on Motorcycle taking advantage of unseasonally sunny weather the 250 odd K`s down to Cootes on the Montana border. There is a closer land border post to us , however after phoning CBSA they informed me that only certain posts could do landing, and Cootes was closest to us. Check if you are in a rural(ish) area is my advice before you set off.

Pulled up to American side of border, usual haughty stroppy yank in evidence, very offical. Explained why I was there, massive attitude change, couldn`t have been nicer and more helpful. Was directed into US Customs, where another officer took all my forms and after a few minutes he came back with a form saying I had been refused entry to the USA. On the form was the reason stating that I only wanted re enter Canada to sort out PR. This he said would mean that if I wanted to re enter USA, it would flag up I had been refused entry and this would record why so I wouldn`t have any issues in future. He then escorted me on my bike through US customs and back to Canada.

Once in Canada, explained to CBSA officer at booth what I was doing. Told me to park up outside office and go in, they would sort me out.
Handed passport and COPR Forms to officer, told to take a seat, they would call my name. After about an hour and a half, I was summoned. Officer asked me a few questions to which she obviously already had answers, satisfied whith me being who I said I was, checked COPR form, got me to sign it, produced more paperwork then stamped passport and clipped copy of COPR into it.

Was sent over to customs, ghoods to follow list copied and notated by officer, then got a welcome to Canada, hope your time here is good.
All in all very easy, just the kicking heels round, but we should all be used to waiting.

While I was waiting, two visitors from USA side were being delt with. Listening in on conversation, it went something like this;

CBSA Officer, 'Have you ever been in trouble with the law?"
Man, mummbles something.
CBSA, 'I ask you again, answer yes or no, have you been in trouble with the law?"
Man, mumbles something else.
CBSA, "Have you ever been in jail? Because if you lie to m,e again I will make sure you go back there!"
Needless to say he was refused admission to Canada, don`t ever be tempted to lie to CBSA

Aperture,  ESTA is only for air travel.  For land crossing only passport is required

Oooh that's so frustrating for you,but like Pinklady says, try not to fret, at least you know you've been approved.  I paid my fees up front, but it is very nailbiting waiting for that envelope.  I keep having nightmares that they have rejected me! Completely irrational, but I can't let myself get carried away planning our future until I have COPR in my hands!  Maybe next week will be the week.
