Congrats Aperture & Lilia123!  I hope you get your PPR (or whatever the process is now) very soon.  Keep us updated. Really feels like things are moving again for people whose applications were received mid-end August.  I checked my ECAS, ever hopeful it might have changed but no!  Maybe though this week!

PROOOOGREEEEESSSSS!  Or so I hope.  (lillia123, I don't think this is a bad sign.)  Just checked eCAS this morning and it says:

We received PARTNER'S application for permanent residence on July 25, 2011.
 
We started processing PARTNER'S application on January 4, 2012.
 
Medical results have been received.
 
A decision has been made on PARTNER'S application. The office will contact PARTNER concerning this decision.

Squee!  Please, please, please let us get an e-mail SOON.  I hope this is a good sign.

My ecas said in process Feb 26th, then the PPR came through on Feb 28th.

PinkLady, I forgot to message and say that my application was recieved on the 9th November by Miss. Ecas just says application recieved so the waiting game is on

Can I just ask a quick question as Ive been given some information today that has really scared me concerning my sponsorship application. A quick background on me is that I am a Canadian Citizen but I left with my mum when I was 5 and havent returned although my sister resides there now. We are married with a 2 year old son. Im hoping I havent been a bit naive in filling out the application and sending it off. I have shown proof of intent to re-establish myself and family in Canada, including contact with and a letter from prospective Landlords saying they would be happy to rent to us on our move to canada, emails and replies from prospective employers, as well as undertaking my BC Insurance Level 1 License long distance etc. I was under the impression that you had to show intent to re-establish yourself within Canada as i obviously live with my husband and son in the Uk at the moment and planned as soon as everything was hopefully successfull to move within a month. However, Ive been told by someone that I wouldnt be allowed to sponsor unless I actually lived in Canada and had a job with income to support my husband as in the sponsorship undertaking agreement?? Im really confused and worried that this is right. Have I gone the wrong way in sponsoring in the family class while still living in the UK? I dont understand any other way that I should have gone about it? I apologise if this seems like a remarkably stupid question, Im just that nervous and worried now after being told this that Ive wasted time attempting to sponsor in this way when I wouldnt be allowed because I do not live or have employment yet in canada. I thought as it was sponsoring someone while residing outside of Canada that this was the correct way.

Sorry to babble...I am having serious panic attacks!!! :s

If anyone can put me at ease or let me know that this information being told to me is true youd be helping hugely to steer me on the right path.

I just got an update today (Jan 09, 2012) on my wife's status today. My wife received an email saying the application has reached it final processing stage. She got instructions to send in her passport and to take a couple of passport pictures and she'll have to fill out a updated info chart. She has 45day to send it in.

Can you please update my info on the spreadsheet? Also does this mean everything went through okay?

Hi Lesleyaddy,

Don't panic - that's not true! I live in London with my husband, and have been approved as his sponsor - just waiting for him to be approved as a permanent resident now. It sounds like you've provided plenty of evidence of your intent to re-establish in Canada and ability to support your family.

Who ever advised you on that was completly wrong, as long as you are a canadian citizen you can be anywhere in the world while the application is going through, its only if your a PR that you have to be residing in Canada at the time. As a spouse there is no income requirments, as lonbg as you are not on welfare then you are eligible to sponsor your husband.
What immigration may ask if you have no income at the moment is how you plan to look after your family once in Canada, as you will have to be responsible for your spouse for 3 years. From your post I see you have put that you have contacted prospective employers, I think this will satisfy any questions thay have about that.

You're totally fine. As MandyUK said, as a canadian citizen you can sponsor your husband from anywhere in the world. Only permanent residents have to remain residing in Canada.
You sent in plenty of proof of your plans to return/reestablish yourself in canada so you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Hi - am starting to worry - I sent my application from UK to Miss and I know it was delivered on 21st October but I have never heard anything - do you get any sort of confirmation and how long should I wait now its gone past my date. Who do I actually contact as its still in process I presume in Canada?

I haven't been able to log onto the eCAS system either with my or my sponsors details!

Im sure this has been asked by a million people before me - just need some advice/assurance!!

I looked up my ecas this morning and it says Decision made (still in process). Then My wife forward the email that she got (at noon) from immigrations asking her to send in the passport and pictures and to fill out a form. I just checked ecas and it still says the same so they probably haven't updated it yet.
 
Our application was also delayed because my wife forgot to fill out one section. She then sent it back to them which was a little over a month ago. I'm just glad it almost over!

So does this mean we've been approved if they ask for her passport?

Hey Steve,

I suggest you to take a look at the spreadsheet Pinklady started up. I found it extremely helpful and it is very accurate. Did you get a tracking number when you shipped your application? Just make sure they have received through your tracking number. If I remeber correctly, it once they have received your application, it takes about 1.5-2month for them to get to it. Once they get to it, they will contact you by mailing or emailing (I hope you provided email because you get the info faster*) you. The email or mail will give you a UCI or application number for you to look it up online. From there you wait...
