shandymoo lol you won't manage to go for the next two years after you land without hearing the Canadian national anthem i promise. you'll be singing it and cheering on fights at the hockey in no time To pass the time while waiting for your PPR, take a look at some of the things you might be asked in the test http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/cit-sample.aspCongrats and happy birthday to Palomadiego. Fingers crossed more good news this week for us all. p.s. Baloo I think you mean the British national anthem not the English one Unless of course you mean "swing low, sweet chariot"

p.s. Baloo I think you mean the British national anthem not the English one Unless of course you mean "swing low, sweet chariot" I am not going to get into the songs debate - LOL For everyone who has Netflix take a look at Billy Connolly: Journey to the Edge of the WorldScottish actor Billy Connolly embarks on a journey to trace the legendary Northwest Passage from Canada's Atlantic coast, north through the country's most remote arctic zones, and back down to the Pacific Ocean. Along the way, Connolly tackles tough terrain, meets interesting locals and participates in some unusual customs, such as going on a seal hunt with an Inuit clan.Worth watching for the views of Canada and the throat singing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1umSzaaYFAI&feature=related

Totally agree about that Billy Connolly program. Stunning scenery, interesting cultures, knowledgeable people along the way and of course his lovable witty personality made it a very enjoyable series for me. The BBC have done us proud making nature programs about this beautiful place. Ray Mears' Northern Wilderness and David Attenborough's Life are other shows with breathtaking photography and amazing cultural and ecological factoids.

The UK anthem does nothing for me but the canadian one gives me chills, as does the american national anthem. Being in a huge stadium and hearing them almost brings tears to my eyes. I find it so moving, especially if there are armed forces there. I love it!

thanks for the reply. this helps a lot as i need to do that this week. i presume you didn't include your whole PR application, just the CIC replies you've had to date such as sponsorship approval letter? or did you include things like your CIC application forms (schedule 1 background, IMM1344A & B etc)?
Just the sponsorship approval letter

Hey All! Just a quick poll-type question. How long did it take you to have your passport returned when you submitted it to the London office? Ours got to the London office on the 21st of March and we are still waiting for it to be returned. Just wanted some sort of time line to go by.
Cheers!

By post it tends to be between 4 and 5 weeks from when it is received in London. My passport took 4 weeks to reach me in Canada, you may get it a little quicker if you are in the UK

My Application has been 'in process' since the 21st Jan.
I got an email from London Visa Office today saying that I need to get a RCMP Background check done.
What a bummer, but atleast I have heard something, even if it's not what I wanted to hear!
On the RCMP website it says processing time: 12 weeks. Does anyone know if 12 weeks realistic or have some people got theirs before then?
Any info, anyone has would be great to hear.

Firstly Samba are you in Canada? If you are I strongly advise that you go to an organisation such as the Commissionaires who can do your finger prints digitally... this way you should have your results back in a few days, and it only costs about $40. If you do it the old ink and paper way it can take up to 6 months for the RCMP to process it, and they currently have a huge backlog. The Commissionaires website: http://www.commissionaires.ca/

That 12 weeks you get quoted doesnt include weekends and holidays so it actually works out to be about 4 months ...but i did get one done and received it in approximately 2 1/2 months ..

Thanks so much for the info....
I'm in the UK at the moment. So if you have it on good authority that there are big back logs at the mo; then perhaps it would be worth my while to make a whistlestop trip to Canada.
Would there be anything stopping me going over to Canada for 7 days and getting a RCMP check while I was over there?
