Allison et al, moved my UHaul of belongings up to my permanent residence in BC today!  Thank you for all your help in figuring it out!

Next up, car exportation/importation. Eek!  Luckily, CBSA officer told me how today.

Just a note, since I'm in the middle of car export/import myself. Make sure you double check with your American insurance company about whether your insurance will be valid after you import. My husband reminded me to call (I was in a rush to get it all done), and I found out that as soon as I do the importation and cross the border my car is no longer covered by my American insurance. I have to get a Canadian insurance in place before I finalize the importation. Thankfully I'd already been speaking with a friend who is an insurance agent about it, but I had to call and tell him to put it in place asap instead of at registration like I'd planned originally.

Yes, it's a good sign. I don't think that "a lot of interviews" are requested by the Detroit office. They may have changed the wording from "in order to expedite the processing" to "in order to continue the processing" so as not to give people too much of an impression that they are being fast-tracked to PPR-dom and they should hear something earlier than they really will. Remember, we don't know why exactly they send certain apps to the satellite offices or who makes the cut. I do still say that historically, the satellite offices have tended to finish off the processing in less time which is why I said it's a good thing. Also notice they talk about IELTS results and all that - evidence that this is just a form letter they send to all streams and not just FC.
I finally sent an e-mail to Buffalo asking about my status.

they replied me as my file has been transferred to Detroit but the neither noticed me on e-cas nor e-mail.
Is it a good sign to transfer to file to Detroit? I am worrying about it because I hear lot of interviews are from Detroit.
They also didn't say "In order to expedite the processing of your application"

Hi all,

I just received my PPR last Tuesday (Yes, on valentine's day  Cheesy) from the consulate in LA. We sent our application to Mississauga in Mid-oct, so basically it took us just 4 months to get approved. I mailed in my passport today, does anyone know how long it will take to get the passport back? I'm guessing a week to 10 days?

I've only recently been following this forum, a great inspiration i should say. Good luck everyone.

Regards

Lucky you. It takes about 15 days, often less, but I think it depends on whether you mail to Fort Erie (which you'd only do if you're already in Canada) or directly to L.A.

I mailed it to L.A directly. I agree I was lucky, it happened very quick. My wife and I expected at least 2 more months but i guess the consulate didn't require too much time. Good luck to everyone. Hopefully this is a positive sign for you all. thanks.

I agree. Processing time for LA is about a month and a half to two months from transfer, assuming you paid all your fees up front.

I love reading this thread but don't have much to offer, hopefully I will soon now that my file is in someone's hands!

OK so I have quite a strange update!

You may remember I posted that I hadn't received an AOR from Buffalo at all, not even anything from Mississauga!

Anyway, so I sent Buffalo a case specific enquiry to see if they had my application on the 6th February.  Having heard nothing back, I went away skiing last week and mid week my eCas suddenly changed to decision made! I was like what the hey?! No AOR! No in process - just straight to that! I was a little worried it may have been bad news!  Sad

On my return from skiing, I had a knock on the door this morning and a Canada Post guy had an envelope for me from the High Commission in London! It was my COPR!!! Shocked My visa office was supposed to be Buffalo, which was confirmed by the call centre as I had been admitted to Canada for a year, but it seems I was sent to London to alleviate the backlog at Buffalo and be processed quicker! 4 ½ months in all!

I am still shocked now! Can't believe it is all over! Plan to land this weekend and celebrate with family and friends a lot! So even though I am not a Buffalo app in the end I wanted to say thanks to those I spoke to directly and for all the advice I have read on this post. I wish all of you who are still waiting a speedy approval.

Cheers.
