Haha. The day I start trusting the Buffalo visa office (and we can generalize to say CIC as a whole) more than I trust my doctor will be the day you'll see me posting threads about being drugged by the CBSA.
Maybe that's why they're so busy because they have too many patients

Hello Buffalo Group! I've been reading your posts for a while and decided to finally stop in and say hello. My husband is from Florida, me Toronto, we applied Outland and our application was received on Jan 10th, 2012. We have a long ( hopefully not too long) wait ahead but are super excited to have the process started. I'll be seeing him on the 28th for a solid 30 hours to celebrate his birthday...then we're back to being apart. The light is really bright at the end of our tunnel, which keeps us strong, even though it sucks to be apart. I love reading all of your stories and if any of you helped Answer some of my questions over the last 4 months, thank you so much!! Talk to you guys soon

Lol They sure do have a lot of "patients" but not all of them are so patient, eh? Maybe that's why they're so busy because they have too many patients

Right, and without any more information, all we can do is speculate, and be baffled. Great question. It's hard to answer that when we can't even explain what makes one application versus another a candidate for transfer to a given satellite office. I think we have to keep in mind that the satellite offices are obviously a lot smaller than Buffalo, so there's going to be a limit as to how much they can take on (and unforch, we can only guess how much further there is to reaching that limit).

Hello Buffalo Group!
Hello from another Florida native! Your situation sounds like us but I'm the wife (from FL) and my hubby is from TO. I hope you have a good visit with your husband.

So is 3-4 week turnaround from sending passport copy and getting COPR back the max you've seen? How long do they usually give to activate it? If the Buffalo visa office has by far the largest workload of immigration files, then this issue literally just begs me to ask: Why are they not sending out more of their workload to the other satellite visa offices? I've heard people on here talk about a 3-4 week turnaround between sending in their passport, and receiving their COPR and passport back, but my turnaround was only five days because it went to Detroit?
What's wrong with this picture?

Just because they haven't been on this forum doesn't mean they've been waiting patiently I was surprised to see here a couple of people who have been patiently waiting for 1 year to get their PPR. In fact they started posting on this forum only after their PPR letter. So there is a small perecentage of those who go over 11 month-period.

I guess that other 20% could bring the average down. I've seen the averages from other places, namely capitals in South America, where the months posted are between 18 and 21, and all the people I know got them in less than four. It's not the "official average," but rather the number of months Buffalo took to finalize 80% of applicants based on the last 12 months' data. An average is a measure of central tendency, on the other hand. However, I do agree that we here are the "chosen ones" because we get to be on this forum

The best part about this is knowing someone out there is going through the same feelings and emotions.... It's really comforting to know we're not alone.

It seems to depend on when your meds are good until/when your passport expires/etc. My COPR stated I had to land by Oct. 22, 2012 I think (it's not right next to me right now), but my passport expires in April so I think technically the COPR was only good until then since otherwise the biometric date on the COPR would have changed. I think they generally give quite a few months for landing, but I don't think I've ever heard of a set time period.

Movement on my file too!!!! I recieved a 60 day letter (dated 6th Jan) for new police certs and for the rprf fee! A little bizarre really as I paid it upfront, though I did tick the box on the application form that said "I" paid the fees, so 4 months ago was sent a checque from CIC to refund this, and then re requested as above for my hubby - the sponsor - to pay it. Interview waived so it looks like its pretty much all over bar the shouting (and more waiting )
