Once you get your COPR, it's a good idea to look at it thoroughly to make sure there's no errors. Look for the expiry date on the COPR. You'll need to look on the back of it to look up what the numbers on the front mean in order to find the expiry date. You'll need to go to the border and tell the CBSA agent that you want to land. They'll give you a yellow slip and direct you to go to secondary inspection so you can go inside and finalize your landing. It's really simple. They'll ask you some questions, have you sign and initial the COPR document, and then they'll staple part 3 of the COPR into your passport. They'll then explain to you your rights and responsibilities as a permanent resident, and you're on your way. It's a painless process, and it won't take very long at all. Also, if you're bringing in your personal effects, you'll need to fill out a B4, and as many B4A forms as you'll need to account for all the things you're bringing into Canada of yours, so they can be imported duty free. You should have a list of things you're bringing in as you land, and another list of things that will come with later. Don't forget to fill these forms before you land, and present this list to them as you land. You should then be all set with everything. Hello!
My Canadian wife has sponsored me (am American) to get permanent residence through the Buffalo office. I got an email stating they are ready to finalise my application and want two pictures, a photocopy of all the pages of my passport, and a return envelope so they can mail me my COPR documents. What happens next? Do I get a COPR then wait for a residence card? Will all this be done through the mail or will I need to physically go to Buffalo?
Thanks for any help you can provide.

So it's been a year! You must be very patient if you're posting only now on this forum and the wait didn't kill you.
I only found this forum after googling "we are now ready to finalise your application" I see some seriously stressed peeps on this forum. I figured there was nothing I could do, so might as well wait patiently.

Wow! How did you handle the wait? I know my wife and I were feeling the strain. I sent it mid-January 2011.

Just out of curiosity since I saw you also post on the thread by the woman claiming to have been drugged that you could help her, how were you going to help?

Thank you, mjh49783aa! That's what I needed to know. So I guess I don't have to go to Buffalo, which is sweet, since it's a bit of a drive from here, whereas, I can be at Thousand Islands crossing in less than an hour.

I don't know what your situation is, but my wife works and we have two kids. I'm American so I've stayed in Canada as a tourist for the whole waiting period. I finished my basement, took some classes, and volunteered at a school. I've also had family visit for probably a third of the time I've been waiting. I've been getting antsy lately, though, so these steps forward have been nice.

There you go! My apartment is right across the border from my wife's, so once I got my papers, and made a list of all my stuff, I was across to land in only a few minutes. One of the nice things about border towns. Thank you, mjh49783aa! That's what I needed to know. Someone posted a landing story back in November or December (maybe it was Amaranth, don't remember now) that said to get there by 7:30 and wait in the Tim Horton's on the first floor of the building. Apparently you have to wait down there until a guard comes down and gets people to bring up to the immigration office.
That was probably me. And the only thing in that first lobby is Timmies, so it's impossible to get lost! Oh wow! There's a Horton in Buffalo?
Oh yes. They're EVERYWHERE in Western NY!

Thanks bargeld, mjh, nhl, americaninquebec, quince, etc. for the thoughts on the "already being in Canada" issue.
So to reiterate - do you guys think it's worth it to include this info prominently in the spreadsheet to track the effect it has or no?
You can but I'm worried people might come to conclusions based on something that likely isn't true. Yeah but the visa office did know you were about to have a baby, didn't it? I know from other cases, they will expedite processing if that is the situation as you would have to pay a huge amount for the delivery without the insurance.
The visa office likely knew but my wife being Canadian, and the sponsor, she was covered by OHIP (universal) for every OB visit, pediatric cardiologist, delivery/postpartum/NICU stay, so that wouldn't have been any reason to expedite the process. Someone recently, I think Morena, went through something similar (in Canada, medicals done there, filed outland, stayed) except their process was double mine. I'm telling ya, the more you try to find consistency, the more you'll find the opposite. Too many variables. Hey, I was poking around on that forum, trying to understand what was going on there, but there was no point in understanding crazy. So I gave up. Too many bats in that belfry, for sure. LOL

I fought so hard not to post in that topic slamming the OP. Gotta rise above it.

So any experience on how long it takes to get the COPR mailed back? I see from people's timelines that it can be as fast as two weeks, but not sure I'm reading right. Want to know when to order all my stuff from Amazon

I fought so hard not to post in that topic slamming the OP. Gotta rise above it. Yes I wasn't asking for slamming. I generally felt sorry for the OP, whether her claims are valid or not she appears to be in need of support outside of this forum. I was just curious as to why Bubba appeared to have promised her help and got her hopes up like that.
