I just showed up at the border with my papers, and they sent me to secondary inspection in order to finalize the landing. There's no appointment necessary at the border.
I think I've decided to just pay through the nose, fly to Buffalo Wednesday, visit the Consulate Office for my COPR on Thursday, and fly home Friday.  I'll complete my landing docs Friday night, and meet my wife at the Pacific Highway Crossing to land.  Do you generally have to notify the crossing that you are landing ahead of time and set an appointment?  Or, do you just show up with your docs?

PPR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This morning I received my PPR letter from Buffalo.  It's the old 30-days to send either the passport or photocopies of the entire document.

We cried, danced, and jumped as I am still visiting my wife in BC.  YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Prayers to you all waiting.  I know it's hard.  We didn't expect it today.

Thank you!!!!!
I'm off to Buffalo on Weds to show up at CIC Thursday, bright and early (8 a.m.).  Anyone know how long in person COPR takes?

Good thing I prepared by getting my PR photos in Canada at London Drugs once I knew I was "In Process".!!!

Get there EARLY. The waiting area fills up quick! Guessing how long you'll be there is like everything else in this process... impossible to know. I was #14, and I was done around 1030am. Another girl from this forum was there the same day as me, she was #6, and was there longer than I was. Take a book and be ready to hang out, but you never know... You could be done fast.

Congrats!

(Congrats of all the other new PPRs too. Buffalo - and the satellite offices - seem to be moving again!)

Many thanks for this!  I was freaking about the 10:00 thing (the instructions say the office is only open 8-10 a.m. on Tues and Thurs, which left me wondering if you got turned away if they ran over 10).

I'll take my new book and of course have to surrender my iPhone whilst in the office.  As soon as I have the COPR, I'm photographing that baby and emailing/calling my wife in BC!

I'm planning to fill out/print all my landing docs today, and land as soon as I get back to WA state on Friday night.

Good luck to everyone waiting.  I feel like the biggest weight in the world is off.  I've left Canada for the last time wondering if I can come back for good ever.

Someone posted a landing story back in November or December (maybe it was Amaranth, don't remember now) that said to get there by 7:30 and wait in the Tim Horton's on the first floor of the building. Apparently you have to wait down there until a guard comes down and gets people to bring up to the immigration office.

Oh wow!  There's a Horton in Buffalo?

I'll do that to be sure.  Besides, it's going to be cold!  I better stay away from the TimBits, though.  Too much adrenaline!

Hello!

My Canadian wife has sponsored me (am American) to get permanent residence through the Buffalo office.  I got an email stating they are ready to finalise my application and want two pictures, a photocopy of all the pages of my passport, and a return envelope so they can mail me my COPR documents.  What happens next?  Do I get a COPR then wait for a residence card?  Will all this be done through the mail or will I need to physically go to Buffalo?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Follow the links in the email. It provides you with details of how to proceed. Once you get your COPR you have to land before the COPR expires. Your PR card will come 6 to 8 weeks after that to the Canadian address you give to the immigration official when you land.

The links are about as clear as mud and I'm not really boned up on all these abbreviations (just learned COPR) today, so your two sentences cleared up more than their email or website ever did.  So, how long will it take for them to issue my COPR once they have my passport photocopy?  I'm actually in Canada at the moment, so I guess they'll send me the COPR, I'll leave, then turn around and enter with it (and as much cheap American stuff as my van can carry) and then be set to start looking for a job.

I'd love to do the timeline thing but when I look at peoples timelines I get a headache Cheesy  I'll try to look up when my wife was accepted as a sponsor.

The website won't allow you to upload your timeline yet because you have fewer than 10 posts. Do you remember the date you sent your app to Mississauga?

So it's been a year! You must be very patient if you're posting only now on this forum and the wait didn't kill you.
