It can feel like forever sometimes, but also, not too bad other times. For us though, been 8 month and counting. We're in no rush so we're okay with the wait.

They kept telling me my app was in queue to be reviewed the two or so weeks leading up to my getting my PPR (as opposed to just, "your file is in process"). It may actually be a good sign!
I hope your wright because Im realy getting sick of this process. They say they send you letters requesting something but you never recieve them. Then you give them what they want and still nothing happens.I dont understand how the process is so hard.My friend married a girl from Alberta and she moved to the states wright after they got married and had residency 3 months later. Then you have people from May and June who are done and some people from last December just getting done wtf.

Oh, I totally forgot what the medical appointment form was. You don't do IMM1017. **I am wondering why your GCMS notes say that you were lacking that form in your application package when you are doing outland.** You do the page called "Appendix C" that's in the Country Specific Instructions: United States form. Very important. Same one that also has the pages on photo specs and checklist of everything to be sent.
yeah , I thought thats what I need to include, but that form really has no more information than the receipt I sent in, so if the immigration officer reviewing my file at buffalo is more knowledgeable than the officer at CPC-M that noted there is no IMM1017 included, then I should be fine I think, but I checked with the medical office and they told me they sent the results to Ottawa Regional center , so if buffalo requests them , they should get it. And , I emailed Buffalo telling them if need to redo medicals or sent in IMM1017, they told me my file is in queue waiting for review, and I think thats a good sign if it is in queue for review,, and blah blah....so will wait for now, and request GCMS later this month.

Okay, I can tell you how IMM1017 comes into play here (been a while....... ). While you show up for your appointment at the DMP with Appendix C, it is in fact IMM1017 (they have copies of these at their disposal) that the DMP signs and gives to you so you can include as an original in your application. The very last item on the document checklist for the outland family class application says, "Proof of medical examination of the sponsored person and each of his or her dependents (original copy 2 of form IMM1017 signed by the examining doctor." In addition, if you looked at the checklist that's in the Part 3: Country Specific Instructions form for the United States (the same form that contains Appendix C that you bring in to your doctor), it says, "Include for yourself and each of your family members Copy 2 of the Medical Report-Section A that the DMP will sign and give to you when you undergo the medical examination. See Appendix C for additional information." Well, "Medical Report-Section A" is basically IMM1017. Regardless of whether the receipt has more information than the form that was given to you by the DMP or not, you cannot send proof that you underwent the IME by way of a receipt. You must send the IMM1017 (specifically, it's usually the IMM1017 EFC which they give out for people who are outland, excessive-demand exempt, and who present the Appendix C at their appointment). If they gave this to you, you need to make a copy of it for your records and send the original to Buffalo as I cannot imagine they will disregard the fact that you lack a major required document. If they did not give you copy 2 (and I can't believe they didn't since they apparently sent the form to Ottawa), then I really have no idea what to tell you. The IMM1017 form that you were talking about being for inlanders.....that's the IMM1017 SLC, which is for sponsored applicants processed inside Canada and also excessive demand exempt. That is but one of the 1017 forms they deal with. yeah , I thought thats what I need to include, but that form really has no more information than the receipt I sent in, so if the immigration officer reviewing my file at buffalo is more knowledgeable than the officer at CPC-M that noted there is no IMM1017 included, then I should be fine I think, but I checked with the medical office and they told me they sent the results to Ottawa Regional center , so if buffalo requests them , they should get it. And , I emailed Buffalo telling them if need to redo medicals or sent in IMM1017, they told me my file is in queue waiting for review, and I think thats a good sign if it is in queue for review,, and blah blah....so will wait for now, and request GCMS later this month.

Do they normally give you a year to land? I haven't gotten my passport back yet, but I was under the impression they normally gave a limited amount of time (i.e. not usually a year), especially if your meds have expired/will be expiring soon. Also if your passport is expiring you have to do it before then.
Either way, they could land and then return to the U.S. until they're ready to move.
I don't know if it's the same for everyone but my COPR and counterfoil said they expire a year to the day after I did my medical which was about 2 and a half months after I got PPR. It's the getting them the passport that's REALLY time sensitive. 30 days from PPR if memory serves me. THIS is what you're looking for, and the subject will be your File number and name Dear Applicant: This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada . We are now in a position to request your passports for visa issuance. Please submit your passport(s) within the next 30 days. The issuance of your visa(s) is time sensitive so it is important for you to submit your passport(s) as requested. Please note, though your passport(s) is/are due at our office within the next 30 days, you must check your documents upon receipt. There will be a validity date indicated, and the landing must take place on or before that date. The visas cannot be extended. If you are not prepared to live permanently in Canada immediately after landing, please consult the website regarding residency requirements in order to ensure that you retain your status in Canada. We require two (2) recent photographs of yourself and each accompanying family member. DO NOT REPLY TO THIS MESSAGE. FOLLOW THE LINKS BELOW FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION THAT WILL ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS YOU HAVE: Passport requirements Photographs, height and eye colour Instructions for passport submission Important notice for family members Immigration Section/Section de l'immigration Consulate General of Canada Consulat général du Canada Buffalo , New York

First time asking question here. we've been waiting for a response from Buffalo since July (when our application changed to "in process". I've emailed 3 or 4 times inquiring if there is any thing required. Got a response Friday saying they've requested information 2x already with no response (we have seen nothing and I have asked!!) They are asking for personal background info (which I know we provided the information when the application was submitted in January 2011) we can resubmit no problem. They are also asking about the police report from Colombia (home country) - has anyone had any luck being able to get the police report with the wire transfer instructions from Buffalo? Canadian banks can't transfer funds without addresses and I can't find the address for the accounts buffalo lists? My family living in Colombia tried to request the report but are not able to get it. 1. Bank of Wachovia - New York no way to know what bank address is (- there's more than one bank and when I called - I was told to use an address from San Francisco.) not what buffalo's instructions say so...?!?!?! wth?? 2. Intermediary bank Davivienda - Bogata,3. Beneficiary account Defence system Colombia. Banks are no help, lawyer doesn't respond, can't get a hold of a person in immigration for help... Stressed for 11 months... falling apart. Just want to get through this so we can move forward with our life together... Any information to be able to get the Police check back to Buffalo ASAP How much longer...

Indeed. One has to keep this in perspective......this is a marathon not a sprint (unforch) and if you get "tired" now you're going to be a REALLY big mess if and when you have to wait as long as others are having to. Sad but true...... I am jealous of the going to San Fran bit tho My plans are NYE in Chicago. Its only been 4 months since you submitted your app.Hang in there hopefully you will be one of the quick ones.Ive been waiting 10 months and some people waited over a year.
