Where can I get all these notes everyone is talking about?  Is there somewhere you call or what's the deal?  Thanks so much for all your help!

My husband is 33 years old and we only gave police certificate for last 10 years, is it acceptable or are they going to ask as to get police certificate sice he turned 18 which is for last 15 years. I am worried the process is going to take longer because of this. Since he worked in different countries it hard to get police certificate for 15 years

Okay, Monday morning is here and my fingers are crossed this is my week. As of 10:20 am this morning no changes in ecas and no emails from CIC. I'd really love my PPR, but at the very least wouldn't mind my GCMS notes coming in so I know what the heck is going on in Buffalo. Though, if I do get my PPR this week I'll be really pissed if they give me a 15 day turn around, which would force me to cancel my trip home for Thanksgiving. Either that or we'll be leaving at midnight Tuesday to get to Buffalo in time to get my visa before driving home to my parents' place.  Roll Eyes

I am right there with you on this! Let's hope Buffalo is going to rock out some PPR's between holidays and get 'er done!  Tongue

The page regarding police certificates doesn't say anything about whether they must be from age 18 onward, or if they can be limited to 10 yr periods, etc. (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/intro.asp). It might be a good idea to try and get them if you can, since you're right in that it might be one of those things that slows down the process if they decide to request information from the countries where he lived from ages 18-23. Depending on where he is now, he may be able to go to the countries' consulates and order them through there.

Are you positive though that the certificate really only includes the past 10 yrs? I just find it surprising that they would only give you the record for the past 10 yrs. What happens if a 50 yr old with a large criminal record in his 20s requests one? They only get a police certificate showing a clean record for the past 10 yrs? Maybe there's a note somewhere that explains if the person has no preceding criminal record they only show the past 10 yrs? Just trying to understand why they'd only give you a certificate with limited information like that.

Also, just reread your message and noted that you only mentioned one police certificate, but said he's worked in multiple countries since the age of 18. He needs a police certificate from every country (other than Canada) where he lived for 6 consecutive months or longer.

Oh hey our files were transferred to Buffalo on the same day! I bet we have the same processing agent. Haha. Hopefully he/she is feeling productive this week!  Roll Eyes

Agreed! God I get so irrationally upset when I see people who applied in May/June/etc. who have breezed through the system and already gotten PPR. Makes me want to go punch a pillow! I mean I'm totally happy for them, just makes me frustrated about my own case!

I have everything crossed that this week we hear something. Our medicals expire in December. Will seriously suck if we have to get new ones. OK that is my old-timer rant done. Smiley

It's okay, come join the old-timer rant circle. We have rocking chairs, canes, lemonade and like to yell at the young kids to get off our lawn! Ah, good times...  Wink

Seriously though, fingers crossed for those of us who are getting up there in months that we get PPR very soon!

Love this.

Well, if this process has taught me anything, it's that I shouldn't try to do big, scary things (like applying to a giant government agency to live in another country) in isolation. Really wish I'd known about this forum a year ago, and it's really nice not to be going through it all alone!

Now pass me my cane so I can shake it at those darn kids on our lawn (she says as she reaches across and some tissues fall out of her cardigan cuff)!

He lived in 6 different countries for more than 6months since she turned 18, we got police certificate from 5 of the countries (in total 11 year) and just missing one where he lived from 18 to 22 age. We have applied for the police clearance from that country too but haven't received it yet (it may take a month or so).
End of October we received a letter from Buffalo stating that initial assessment is done and the interview is waived. They didn't mentione anything about missing police certificate. I guess we will be receiving another letter asking for the certificate.

Thank you for your reply, appreciated

Agreed! I don't know how or why I didn't think to look for something like this last year. I only found this forum last month, and it really has been helpful, especially with my morale.

Now take your cane and help me go teach some whipper-snappers a lesson...if only I could get up out of my rocking chair... Wink
