Regarding my earlier conversation with OnTheMove: I have been doing some searching on this site and it does seem to indicate that I will be sending my passport to LA when the time comes. So that's good Smiley

...shorter mailing time, that's for sure.  I don't know about LA, but it's not so adventageous for me that my file is at NYC.....I cannot get the visa in person.  NYC only accepts passports by mail.  Sad

I got a reply to my message:

Permanent resident applications are created in our database and acknowledgement of receipt letters are sent to the applicant within 30 weeks of receipt. Any application submitted without the required documents and information will be returned to the applicant.

30 weeks? Seriously?

I know they didn't even bother to look into my file.. or spell acknowledgment correctly..

its called an inital assessment letter...not everyone gets it.   Plenty of people get PPR without one!

Basically they tell you that the initial assessment has been completed on your file and they do no see needing an interview.   There's also several checkmarks on the page,  whether or not they need any additional files, whether or not they need your medicals or RPRF (right of permanent residency fee)

can you pay the RPRF before they ask for it so its a little bit quickeR?

Thanks!

you can fax Ottawa RMC (613-954-8653) or use the case specific form on the buffalo webpage: https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/cicemail/intro-eng.aspx?mission=buffalo.

I got a better response from faxing, but I had emailed the general inquiry email!

oddly enough, even though I faxed Ottawa, they responded by email.   Its because I had emailed my husband the request so he could fax it at work, and the lady that responded just used the address I sent the email from...it definitely wasn't the email I had listed in my forms!

copied and pasted from the email I sent my husband:

Hi,

I would like to find out if Buffalo has requested and received my medical exams yet.   There is an issue with my DMP giving me back only the receipts required for an inland application when my application is an Outside spousal.   I just want to make sure my medical exams can be found and sent to the right location.

thanks so much!

i mailed everything in but my FBI is expired by 2 weeks but CIC when i called them they said you have a 50/50 chance of them requesting a new one bc if you dont have charges they wont worry too much and might avoid another one Smiley!

SaugaBoss: How do you know if your FBI certificate is expired?

-Lys

You have to mail it with in 3 months of receiving it. My application was not complete and was mailed in May. So they were technically expired by a couple weeks. I am in the process of getting another one, but the CIC might not even ask for another one seeing that i have no record...but they might it depends on the IO as told by the CIC call center...but with medicals they dont care most of the time they will make you do a new one.

and dhdesigns: Goodluck let me know what happens!!
