This time there was no ghost update! I got an email from BFALOIMPA-AP   @   international.gc.ca saying my visa is ready for issuance! I've gotta go take a shower to get my photos done! Where can I get those done in Vancouver? hmm. I hope everyone else gets theirs soon, it looks like Buffalo is moving along!

Congrats!!

You ordered CAIPS notes too, right?

Yes, about 3 weeks ago, but have not received anything yet.

Our address is gone again today, too.

We ordered CAIPS/GCMS & FOSS notes around Jul 22.  They arrived almost exactly one month later, with several items redacted (including two whole pages of FOSS notes).

I'm wondering if you should maybe wait for these before contacting your rep. I bet you'd have them in the next week or so.

Maybe. The problem is, I was so confused as to how to order those notes, that I am still not sure we have done it correctly. My husband, the applicant, filled in a form giving me permission to request Caips, and I also included a check for $5 since he is residing in the US. However, it has been 3 weeks and they haven't cashed the check yet  Roll Eyes

(Re-posting from March thread, hoping for some insight)

Small (but exciting to me) update:

I spoke with our MP's office two days ago and they agreed to inquire on our application as we needed to verify that our address had been changed.  Our MP's office was VERY helpful, and I just spoke with her again this morning.  Here is what she informed me:

Our file has a bring forward date of September 1.
Our medical has arrived and is good
Our background checks are done and are good
Our address and contact information has been updated

She said that the office stated our file is "moving along smoothly and we are in good shape"

She said she has a strong feeling (but cannot guarantee) that September bring forward date is for a final review and that we have a good chance of having our approval shortly after that.  She also said that the officer has 30 days from the bring forward date to do the review, and if we don't hear anything by the end of September, to call her back and she will do another inquiry.

Just wondering.... from those who are experienced in the area, are her impressions accurate?  I know there is no guarantee... but would her interpretation of the file be sound?

Thanks so much

What exactly IS a "bring forward date" and what does that mean/do for your case?

I wouldn't expect the check to be cashed for another week or two, but once it does the notes will be on the way.  We received our last set of notes by email a couple days after the check was cashed but that was about 4-5 weeks after I mailed the request.

That is exactly what I'd like to know Wink

As far as I can tell, it's like a reminder for the officer to review the file.  I just want to know if that's truly the case.  If they've said that they have received everything and it looks good... why do they need a bring forward date at all??

/sigh

Any idea?

I had doubts too but when I called the Access to Info & Privacy Client Service Unit of CIC on the 15th, they told me they had the request and I should get the GCMS notes by September 2. I didn't have the credit card issue because I'm in the country so don't need to pay.

My guess is because all the files sit in a nice dusty pile in some back room and they only pull them out to work on them when the clock tells them to.

That's probably about right.  They are government workers, after all.
