They just changed my application to say medical received on ecas. IA said the same on April 6th, 2011. At least that is some progress. I saw my family this weekend which was nice.
I have a question to the group I am not sure of. I sent in an fbi clearance form, but I am not sure I sent in the state police form. It says from the different replies people have sent that they should get the police forms. When I went to Californias website for the form, they said that they do not mail it to foreign consulates or embassies. I am just not sure that I did this. My IA said they did not require any more documents. Did I delay my application by not having this form?

@ avon: US State clearances are not usually needed -- only if they ask. This is why the CIC website only specifically states needing the FBI certificate, if you've lived in the States for 6 months or more since turning 18. Some people get the state certificates anyway, just in case, but they are not required for everyone and thus are not required to be sent with the application in the beginning -- only if asked. The only ones you absolutely have to send are country-specific police clearances, FBI clearance being the one for the States. Now, if they do decide you need a state clearance, then yes -- them having to ask for it and wait for you to send it may cause delays. But that's only if they think you need state clearances, most people don't seem to.

I have a quick question for anyone on the board that may know. If I have to make an update to my application do I e-mail Buffalo through their general e-mail address, or to I make a case specific inquiry? My mother recently moved and I want to update her address and phone number in Buffalo in case they try to contact her. Does anyone have an idea how I would go about doing this?
It's not necessary to update your mother's address with CIC unless they ask.

Can anyone tell me about the following:
-When you 'land' should you have everything you want to move with you, or are you able to go back and forth freely to get your belongings? (For example, could I land, then go back to get my stuff and properly move?) -Is there a window of time between when you get accepted by CIC and when you have to claim your visa, and land? What is that window of time for each?

1. You can bring possessions after you land. Prepare the appropriate forms for importing goods found on the CBSA website and present upon landing to let them know there is more to come. 2. Time limit to pick up the visa is usually 30 to 60 days. Instructions will be given by the VO when they request the passport for visa stamping. You must land before expire of your visa which is tied to your medical exam. Medicals expire one year after they were performed and the visa will expire on that date as well.

The January and February group would have been already created if they are creating around the date Feb14 I would think.

Yes you can. You could just tell them you prefer to land at a future date.

Hi guys -
Question for a friend who applied through Buffalo (I think her application was sent to Mississauga in March?). Anyway, she just receive an email from Buffalo letting her know that her file has been transferred to NY for processing.
Once she is approved, is her only option to mail her passport to NY? Or does NY do walk-ins like Buffalo? (I think Buffalo is the only location that does drop ins and sending her passport in is the only option - but wanted to double check.)
If anyone knows - that would be great.

@ scylla: TheHal recently was able to drop-in for his -- and it was at Detroit. He contacted them beforehand and asked if it was possible. Maybe she should do the same for NY's office.

Buffalo is definitely busy processing! I received an e-mail today with the initial assessment, saying they waived the interview and all that was missing was my payment for RPRF. I had actually recently paid this, so I was a bit concerned when they asked for this piece. I wrote them back with the specific details and they responded within a couple of hours. Just FYI....They reported that when you pay on-line or send payment to Mississauga, it takes about 3-4 weeks to get into Buffalo`s system. Just something to keep in mind. Hooray...I now have a real file number and everything! PS....e-cas still says ``application received``. So see...they are working behind the scenes, and we just don`t know all of what`s going on.
