OH MY GOD!

I couldn't have asked for a better birthday present.

Congratulations Adetia... And happy birthday! I hope that I get something soon, or for my birthday! That would be awesome. (April 7) Which would be 20 days until one year has elapsed from the initial receipt of my application.

I almost emailed, and I've almost contacted my MP..but for some reason I feel I might be getting a decision soon. If not by next week, guess I have to muster up the willpower and start contacting and get some movement on my file!!

It's been 3 months since I've sent in my additional information!! UGHHHHH.

What document did they want, exactly?

Btw, I was looking through your other posts... did you ever receive an initial assessment, or no?

The doc they wanted - should have been submitted with our original app - was the letter of consent from my ex giving me permission to move our daughter to Canada permanently.
I did get an initial assessment - the interview was waved.  I paid my Permanent Resident fee back in Oct of last year.  That was the last thing I got from them.

I did take it as a good sign that they ARE working on it.   Grin

I got an email from Buffalo, in response to the one I sent last night.

"Your message has been forwarded to the processing team.

Canadian Consulate General Buffalo

Immigration Section

buffalo-im-enquiry @ international.gc.ca"

...I assume this is good?  Or do they send 3 emails (the first an automated response, the second saying it's been forwarded, and a third saying no additional info is available?)  I was expecting something more generic...

just wondering what is the usual schedule/communication we receive as the process goes?

for example, i sent my app in feb. 7, now the first ive heard was by logging into my ecas and it says decision made, a letter has been sent. so next communication would be a letter in the mail? what is this first decision that has been made?
hope this question makes sense....
thanks!

Most likely you will receive response in mail, and either you will receive a PPR (passport request) for your visa, or a denial. Good luck...

For those who have been wondering if their RPRF has been processed by CIC (assuming it was sent in later than the application/sponsor fee), I found out via another post that you can check if it's been processed by logging in with that receipt number for the RPRF to check on e-cas the status of your application.  If it pulls up the information on your file, then it has been processed.  I never thought of doing that before.  I didn't realize they would add that to the ways you can check on your application, so now I can get my status through the first receipt, client #, my file number in Buffalo AND the receipt number for the RPRF.

That makes me feel better now, knowing that it has been processed by the CIC and I also sent a copy to Buffalo.

Thanks Treelover, good to know. I was going to try that yesterday, but I couldn't find my receipt. My hubby has it somewhere.

Hey guys,
I was just curious as to what percentage of people from the Buffalo office get selected for an interview?  I am trying to gauge the possibility of being asked to be interviewed and I know it's highly subjective.  It seems to me, from reading these posts and those on other forums, that it's rare for a married couple whose application is processed in Buffalo to be asked to come in for an interview.  Most of the people asked to come in for an interview seem to be common law or conjugal.  This may be a totally false impression, so I was just wondering.  It's not like it's a huge deal if we get selected, I feel we can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are, in fact, a genuine couple if we haven't already proven that.  It's just that it seems like being selected for an interview slows down the whole process by a somewhat significant amount.

Thanks

Also, it appears as though a lot of those that are selected for interviewing are applicants who aren't US citizens, but are from a third country and have been resident in the US, so elect to use Buffalo as it may be faster than their home nation.

That's good to know.

Recent marriages are probably also selected for interviews more often than longer ones.
