Does anyone know if I can book a trip after I land but before I receive the PR card?  Some people say we can just travel with the COPR proof.  He is visa exempt.  Thinking Jamaica in 2 weeks.

From what I've read, you can only use the COPR for returning to Canada by land. BUT with him being visa exempt... I'd assume either way, it shouldn't be an issue. And even with him just having the COPR, that plus visa exemption would make you think he shouldn't have a problem returning. How long are you going to be gone for? Long enough for someone to courier the PR card to him before he returns, maybe?

There was another discussion thread that talked about that recently.

Apparently, the COPR isn't enough for entry in Canada by air or sea... but it is at land crossings.

That said, I think you'd have to find a VERY mean border guard to deny him entry, given that he'll have a completed COPR stapled in his passport, especially being visa exempt.

yes i am in denial.. i cannot believe that my wife got it..

I actually found it in the junk mail of her email account.  I am her junk mail checker.  The title of "Passport requested (case #)"caught my eye.  She had not seen it so i hid the email in her sent folder and when she got home i asked her to call me and then i started to read her the email lol

Congratulations!  Je souhaite vous et votre femme une vie heureuse!

Depending on how far you are from the border, you might consider flying in and out of a US airport near the border, then crossing by car.  My husband and I do that when we travel together.  We have some additional steps at the border we have to go through, and it just makes it less complicated.

Since it's so soon, why not just get the COPR and visa in the passport then land when you return from the trip?

I Agree, being that we are visa exempt, would they deny us entry after actually landing? I have to trave to the states in 2 weeks, maybe I'll try it?
Has anyone actually re-entered after landing, with COPR, but without PR card???

I don't think they would deny entry to a visa exempt person. A guy on here from London flew back and forth a couple of times before he had his card without any problems Smiley

Good luck to all Buffalos today!

No eCas update for me (I wasn't really expecting anything)

kelKel, just out of curiosity, does your eCas still say 'In Process'?  The system is so utterly unreliable.   Roll Eyes
