Buffalo sucks.

Edit:  I think we should all send them anonymous faxes (e.g. from work, from a library, etc) requesting they send more applications to satellite offices (e.g. Detroit, NYC, Seattle, etc).  I've yet to understand when/how they make that decision, it seems entirely random.  I wonder just how swamped they have to be, before they decide to send some applications elsewhere?

I'm in total agreement - BUFFALO SUCKS!!!! I'm into anonymous faxes for sure  Grin

Immigration Fax: (716) 852-2477

Dear Buffalo Immigration Regional Program Centre,

We pending immigrants to the great nation of Canada, realize and understand that processing times at the Buffalo visa office can be both lengthy and time-consuming, especially compared to other international centres. We also realize this may be one of the busiest and most stressful times of year (e.g. post-holidays) for immigration officers, as well as the Immigration Regional Program Centre as a whole.

In lieu of the overwhelming amount of applications not yet received, applications that have not started processing, applications that are on hold, and applications that are pending decision, we humbly ask that you may consider sending additional applications to satellite offices (e.g. Detroit, New York, Seattle, Los Angeles, etc), and perhaps lessen your burden some, while ensuring that those of us immigrants whom are separated from families will be reunited with them sooner, and able to begin giving back to the great nation of Canada, whom has accepted us as permanent residents.

Thank you for your efforts, and also for allowing us the opportunity to become part of the Canadian family.

Sincerely,

Anonymous Applicants & Sponsors

that's awesome Pharoh!  I know, it seems like Buffalo is much slower than the other offices in our November thread.  They should have received our applications much sooner than those of London, Singapore, Islamabad, etc. since well, Buffalo, NY is pretty close to Ontario.  You would think.....

I keep checking this for news.  I can't stop.  It's an obsession.  I think many of us have that problem.

I hope they transfer my file to Seattle.  That would be perfect since I'm in Vancouver.

There is no rhyme or reason.  We started processing 13 days after it was transferred.   Interview waived just another 15 days after that.  They've now had the extra document for 5 weeks...who knows how it works.  Not even going to try and guess.

Hahahaha... I think they're a little constipated...sorry backed up after the holidays.

haha, Hilarious! Treelover, I agree. It's a total obsession. It's a good thing I know when the postal carrier drops the mail off at my condo, otherwise, I would probably sit in front of my mailbox...LOL.

Pharoh, I think you might have started something wonderful...That was an awesome letter! You should totally fax it off, maybe a few of us should too!

With my case, Ecas was way behind reality.  Ours is still showing "in process"  even though we got out PPR last week.  Today I'm gonna drive to Buffalo and get the Visa and see what that process entails.

So I drove down to Buffalo to get the Visa today.  It is a very simple process actually, I was in and out of the office in just over a half hour.  I highly recommend picking it up in person if it is feasible.  I think family class, or those getting a permanent resident Visa are handled by someone that is only doing that.  the office waiting area was packed when I arrived, and feared the worst, and I am assuming the majority were there for student/work visas.  Those folks were frustrated at the waiting.

So I have a couple of questions for those who have experience in obtaining their visa in person [anyone else with knowledge is welcome to answer].

1. Once PPR is submitted and I go to BUF to obtain my visa - can my husband (my sponsor) go in the bulidng with me as well?
2. Once PPR is submitted and I drive to BUF and obtain my visa - if I decide to land in Canada at the same time, can I spend the weekend in Toronto as a Permanent Residence and go back to NY to finish up finalizing packing and paper work for resigning work?

Best of luck Jmni - fill us in then you get back! Did you get your CAIPS to see why an interview is needed? Did they tell you why? Did they ask for you to bring any additional information?

I'm curious to know this as wel.  jmni1, was there anything that would have triggered the interview?  (e.g. kids, not a lot of evidence, having lived in other countries, military service, etc?)  I wonder if Buffalo just chooses people to interview at random?
