I wonder if anyone ever gets refused for the CSQ... If everyone gets it they why not just call it a $250 fee to live in Quebec? Quebec has a lot of say for work-type PR applications, but I doubt they refuse many (any?) family class applications, because they haven't got much grounds to refuse them. Quebec, I expect, wants all this application process in place to prepare for the day when they won't be part of Canada. That's going to take "forever" if it ever happens at all. They do want people to sign that they agree with Quebec family values, that men and women are equal, etc., and that they will try to learn French, because French is quite necessary in more workplaces in Canada. Most people immigrating to work in Canada have to have a specific job I think, and if it's in Quebec, that's where it is. Also, since I live in Quebec and am sponsoring my partner to join me, I don't think I have a choice but to pay the fee to Quebec, as much as I'd like to save the money for something else. do they have to be bilingual to work in the visa offices? It is my understanding that they have to be bilingual in English and French to work in any visa office. |

I am looking for an exact location....I tried google map and it kept giving me 1 HSBC Centre...not sure if the same?
it is at 1 HSBC Centre. Its hard to miss, its the tallest building in Buffalo and the office is on the 30th floor. There's even a little Canadian flag where the the number 30 would normally be on the elevator! I think the 3000 bit is just for ease of mailing the passport. |

I got a request for my passport by email today! So happy!  My ecas status is still In Progress, but I assume since they are requesting my passport that they have approved my application? Congrat! That's great What time did the email arrive? |

They are giving me until November 10 to give them my passport, I'm taking a trip until the 7th... can I mail it out? Do they have to recieve it by the 10??? OH MY GOD!!!!! VIA E-MAIL!

That is because it IS 1 HSBC Center. It is suite 3000....screwed us up big time today, lol. My GPS did not like 3000 at all. There is only one HSBC building (well there is the stadium, but business building). My hubby has officially landed...YAY! We got to the HSBC building around 7:15am. We were directed to wait at the main entrance until 7:30am and a guard came by to bring us to the main lobby check in desk. We got number 2 & 3 (even though we were first). We were then told to take the elevator to the 30th floor (the elevator button even had a maple leaf as the button, lol!) We got there and went into talk with someone, give them his passport and then told to wait about an hour for our number to be called. We waited...and waited....and waited....then around 9:30am we got called up and they handed my hubby his passport and landing documents. We then drove to the Peace Bridge. Told the guard we were landing, he gave us a little slip of paper and told us to park and go inside. Luckily it was not busy there and we walked right up to an IO and he scribbled on the pretty sticker, asked a few mundane questions, then told him his rights as a PR, asked if he had goods to follow. Then we left. We were officially on the road back home by 10:30am. Then we decided to stop off half way home in St Catherines to get some of the documentation stuff out of the way....that was not fun. First place we went to, according to the website he could apply for his new license and OHIP. Well we went to go do his license and nope, he needs to go to a Drive Test testing facility to do this....seriously?!?!?! I do not recall reading this anywhere online. And of course once we drive all the way there we find out since he is from New York state, one of the few states they CANNOT look up in the computer and he needs to order his driver record....ugh...so that was a waste of time. We go to do his OHIP....Again, denied. We had a utility bill, but it was not good enough for them, they want water/gas/phone as a proof of address is a license is not available....we brought internet/vonage....ARGH!!!!!!!!! We at least we did not have any issues with his SIN....he can work!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! But overall, not a bad experience, glad we got to Buffalo as early as we did, there were NO seats by 8:30-9ish and it was sooo stuffy and warm. |
